Weather for 2nd Test against Sri Lanka
2 years ago, at the end of MayLooks like it’ll be cloudy but dry for the first day - but Friday is a washout, and Saturday isn’t looking any better. Any Brummies got local info?
I’m back - but where are the players?
3 years ago, mid-SeptemberHello chaps, I’m back. Heard that Australia were offered the light a while ago (just after Tea?) and took it. Bizarre. Aren’t they trying to win this game? Especially odd since Hayden and Langer seem to have put on a solid (in terms of numbers and runs) opening partnership…
With 19 hours to go…
3 years ago, at the start of SeptemberWith 19 hours to go before this impossibly exciting game begins, we ought to at least check on the weather. Just outside London, it’s fairly calm and muggy and dry. John Kettley (he of “John Kettley is the weatherman” song fame), cricket nut and weather forecaster, reckons there’ll be breaks in play, but nothing significant. Mind you, that was a few days ago.
The BBC’s forecast is mixed, and keeps changing, but right now it looks like it’ll be fine! Who needs five-day Tests, anyway?
And they’re off!
3 years ago, mid-AprilWell, not quite. The traditional opening game of the county’s summer started in traditional manner - “inspection 4pm”
Ahhhh - summer’s arriving.
No play at Centurion
3 years ago, mid-JanuarySpitting rain, on and off, at Centurion so doesn’t look like there’ll be any play. Cricinfo’s take on it:
Official news from the umpires is that we are lookingat a 15:00
start
That is if the rain does not get back before that
I would put money on the rain beating the players out
Sorry to say, I am off to the bookies to fetch my money, the rain
has won and the covers come back on
Bit dodgy mentioning the Bookies word at this ground isn’t it?…:)
