Be a cricket blogger
By Will 4 years ago, at the end of June, No Comments; be the first!
I was approached last year to edit The Googly, a new cricket blog, but in recent weeks it’s fallen into disuse. I simply don’t have the time. So they’re looking for someone else. Apply within.

Take one American president, sprinkle with cricket, sit back and relax.
If, like me, you find anything George Bush says, or does, utterly hilarious – not to mention inexplicable, without cause or reason etc etc – then please look at him playing cricket. It’s very funny. Blogged at The Googly, and the BBC have a gallery of photos which, as is Bush’s want, make him look a complete retard. Splendid!
I mean will you look at him?

Not long to go

Eeh by gum, it’s not long ’til the first Test. Just having an interlude from the drinking and merriment to put up a post which should appear about 3am, if any of you lot wish to chat among yourselves. I’ll try to catch the highlights…
Preview over at the other blog.

My thoughts on Graham Thorpe’s autobiography (bleurgh) and Simon Hughes’ Morning Everyone (splendid) are over at the other blog for your reading delight.

So then, Owais Shah has joined an ever-increasing list of “cover” players to join England’s squad in India. He acts as cover for Marcus Trescothick, who’s flown home citing personal reasons. Alastair Cook has also been called upon; in fact, he was called up for England’s tour of Pakistan, too, when Michael Vaughan’s knee played up. Cook smashed a double hundred against Australia in the summer (for Essex) and is a fabulous talent. More thoughts at The Googly.

Some months ago, I was approached by a freelance writer and editor of an old cricket fanzine, The Googly, to see if I’d like to start a new blog. Naturally I agreed, being the blogging whore and cricket fanatic that I am, and we’re quite close to launching. So it seems only fair that I pass on the news here to the faithful CoU readers. We’re being published by Shiny Media, who produce and advertise many blogging gems and it’s an exciting time to be part of the blogosphere.
Justin, with whom I’ve be working with and for, is equally excited about the prospects; we have a number of professional writers, all mad-keen cricket fans, from a variety of backgrounds who will be posting their thoughts on the game. From comedy writers to financial experts, it ought to be great fun – and we hope to have some big names in the coming months, too, as well as prizes and competitions. We launch on March 1 in time for England’s first Test against India.
Nothing will change here, of course. But I hope you’ll pop over to The Googly to have a read of my, and other people’s musings. Rock on.
