Now I really ought to have given my faithful readership more notice, but such is my near-total lack of organisation that I’ve utterly forgotten. Tomorrow, I reach the heady heights of 24 years. The quarter-century is rapidly approaching, and I’m distinctly concerned. To make me feel better, and to ease the monstrous hangover which will befall over the next few days, you are very welcome to buy me many gifts and presents. Ah, the Boxing Day Test. Is there a better way to end Christmas for the cricket nut? After an invariably drunken Christmas Eve; a relentlessly gluttonous Christmas Day, Boxing Day is the dry, quiet come-down. The turkey demolished, the presents unwrapped - the complementary walk (I know we’re not the only ones who insist upon it. Perhaps it’s guilt, stemming from our ever bulging stomachs), and the more fastidious members of the family have been tidying up the sitting room as though their lives depend on it. It’s a day of reflection, of sobriety - and of cricket. Apart from the first Test of an English summer, it’s my favourite of the year. And it starts very soon (I’m writing this on the 23rd. See, fans? See the dedication, and honour my commitment!).

I hope you’re impressed with my title: Wot shuld i get my girlfreinds 4 xmas? That’s my attempt at the language of the new world. If you’re gagging for more - and by that, I meant the language (innit), you dirty, filthy-minded individual - try and decipher the Kevin Pietersen Post. And yes, I’ve capitalised Post for this reason alone: over 1200 comments have been left by his “fans,” whose admirable delusions of hope hold no boundaries. Or fours. Or even sixes. And apologies for that last pun.
Anyway, the reason for this post - the last for a while I should imagine - is that someone arrived to this blog by searching the following phrase in Google: “brilliant christmas presents for girlfreinds”
Quite aside from the fact they arrived, rather disappointingly for them, at a cricket blog - not to mention the misspooooling - I find it equally hilarious that anyone should be looking for “brilliant” xmas presents for their “girlfreinds” on the internet…
