    Paging Kiwis in Joh’burg

By Scott 2 years ago, at the start of May, 5 Comments »

We have a damsel in distress, it seems, going by a comment.

Don’t know if you can help or not but I’m in Jo’burg for work and - happy, happy coincidence - have the weekend off so am planning on heading to the Test. Am happy in my own company (though does make me feel like a bit of a Nigel) but thought I’d try and find other Kiwis heading along to the game. Any chance you can help me out?
    Cheers,
    Tennille

If you want to take Tennille out, leave a comment or email your details to me at swickstein at gmail.com. I personally think she should get in touch with these guys, but I can understand wanting slightly less raucous company.

South Africa v Australia, 3rd Test, Johannesburg, 3rd day

This game’s hotting up. Mike Hussey did one of his rescue acts yesterday, but fell in the 70s and Australia still trail by about fifty runs. Iiiiiiinnnnnteresting. I’m on the Verdict at CI, so let’s hope for an interesting day’s play. And I’ve slagged South Africa off twice in succession, so I better a) start praising Australia b) start praising South Africa or c) talk about sausage rolls. Crack on, chat away, etcetera

South Africa v Australia, 3rd Test, Johannesburg, 2nd day

The second day from Jo’burg. And it’s April 1! Therefore, I can say with the utmost sincerity that Ricky Ponting has retired; Merv Hughes is returning to cricket and will play for England; Wasim Akram is also returning. To captain India. And the ICC have removed the West Indies’ Test status and replaced them with Russia.

South Africa v Australia, 3rd Test, Johannesburg, 1st day

By Will 2 years ago, at the end of March, No Comments; be the first!

So, Graeme Smith is a definate non-starter for the final Test. It’s hard to see a way through Australia for South Africa. On the other hand, Australia’s foot might loosen from the pedal as it often does after a series-securing victory. Chat away.

South Africa v Australia, 5th ODI, Johannesburg

What in the name of all that is sane is going on at Johannesburg? Adam Gilchrist started it with one of his violent furies; now Ponting’s gone utterly beserk and is smashing the Boks to kingdom come! This, after Australia levelled the series on Friday. What a game. Australia are heading towards the first 400 in a one-dayer at this rate.

Oh and Symonds hasn’t even arrived yet. (Click here to see Cricinfo’s new spangly scorecard)
