The chaos of gully and street cricket

Youtube is extraordinary. Here’s a really clear example of the passion that cricket instils in parts of south Asia, but also the chaotic frenzy it generates. The girl picking up the makeshift stumps, the toddler zooming down the wicket in his trike, the constant shouting, the lack of order and form. Complete madness, yet (and I’m assuming it’s Pakistan, correct me if I’m wrong) guess which country produces the most naturally gifted cricketers? Yep. Well, probably. Well, that used to be the case at any rate. According to a former cricketer whose name I’ve forgotten, but I’m pretty sure it was Mike Atherton.
