Eoin-Morgan

Morgan. Fairbrother or Thorpe?

By Will 1 month ago, 3 Comments »

Eoin Morgan reminds me of Neil Fairbrother a touch. And Graham Thorpe. And someone else that I can’t quite put my finger on. That’s all.

Shock and awe

By Rich Abbott last year, mid-November, No Comments; be the first!

Shock and awe they promised. Shock and awe they have so far delivered. The new approach – designed for the 50-over format and aired with some success in the Champions Trophy – seems to have filtered down to the T20 side. Yesterday was pretty shocking - Friday, relatively awe-inspiring.

With the bat, the signs are positive (in more ways than one). Morgan’s pyrotechnics, and the top seven batsmen recording 100+ strike-rates (for only the third time ever) yesterday, are steps in a necessary direction. Just the bowling to sort now…

In the words of that well-known cricket lover Jon Bon Jovi: “We’re half way there.” Time to hold on. Ready or not.

Eoin Morgan

To be sure
Regular readers, all seven of you, will know how highly I rate Ed Joyce, the Irish and Middlesex batsman. Many think Eoin Morgan, another Oirishman, is as good…if not better. And he’s in action now against Hampshire in the first round of C&G trophy matches.

No sooner had I finished writing that last sentence than Morgan flicked a leg-side delivery straight down fine-leg’s throat. You dickhead, Will. Blogger’s curse.

Oh well, not much more to be said. Other than you pronounce his first name “Owen”, not “Ee-ohh-in” like I did.
