  • "Fitness is a relative term. I mean to say that it does not necessarily mean that one who runs hard and lifts weights is fit. Cricketing fitness is different. So if you can perform, it means you are fit."
Sourav Ganguly provides his unique take on what constitutes fitness

    Collapsing in style

By Will last year, at the end of December, No Comments; be the first!

The collapse is rather like witnessing a pile-up on a motorway. You know you shouldn’t look - but the macabre is always a fascinating sight, if ugly and uncomfortable. The gruesome can be stylish, too, and the West Indies are true champions of collapsing in style. Pottering along at 122 for 2, they buckled to 146 for 8. Now that is true class.

They lead by 359, and Patrick reckons they will still win with two days to go. Hmm…

Sussex v Gloucestershire: victim of Football World Cup?

By Will 2 years ago, at the end of June, 3 Comments »

Gloucestershire all out for 98 in 36 overs. In reply, Sussex were 72 for 8 before falling three runs short of the required 99, inside 18 overs! Oh dear. A victim of the Football World Cup, and England’s knock-out match against Ecuador (which is on now)?

    Australia collapse spectacularly

By Will 2 years ago, at the start of March, 9 Comments »

Australia are 7 for 4 (seven runs for four wickets) against South Africa, who are well on course for a 2-0 series lead. What on earth’s going on? Makhaya Ntini has 4-4 from five overs!

    UPDATE: They’re now 11 for 4 from 12 overs!

UPDATE: Somewhat of a recovery, 34 for 4. Katich 16 - oh dear, he’s gone too now! What a muppet - Klassic Katich, caught in the covers. Useless shot.

Australia v West Indies, 2nd Test, 1st day

    By Will 3 years ago, mid-November, 3 Comments »

My optimism at the start of this series has gone. “Same old, same old” say the fans and critics, and who can argue with them? They still rely on Brian who, himself, is in the throes of a form depression. His team-mates feed like scavangers off his batting genius, but only if he fires; they couldn’t, and nor could Lara, find any answer to McGrath, Lee and MacGill. Warne, curiously, went wicketless.

Peter English writes a very well balanced piece on Lara, Anand Vasu did the bulletin, Scott is looking forward to Australia feasting on the vulnerable. At least they have something to celebrate, in T&T qualifying for the World Cup. Ryan is beside himself.
