To change the subject somewhat, does anyone know anything about the bunch of South Africans calling themselves the Springboks who turned up at Welford Road yesterday? Their deception was exposed when they were well and truly thumped by a motley crew consisting, it seemed, mainly of teenagers and players on loan from Nottingham.

Agreed. Disarmingly easy start to the tour. Must have felt like a prep school match for Strauss. And not just because he opened to a pair of chaps named Cornelius and Victor.
