Agreed, it’s top viewing for any cricket lover under the age of 114 with a concentration span of more than 20 overs. Refreshing film footage of the days before the ‘fun police’ sterilised the crowds and before modern training methods and money neutered the characters in the game. If you can drag yourself away from the T20 circus there are great memories for the old and history lessons for the young.

Excellent series on the BBC at the moment. It began with England, and I’m just watching one on the West Indies, which is even better. Try iPlayer for those in the UK; those abroad, erm, download it illegally?
