The pitch – it’s alive after all

By Will last year, at the start of March Add your comment below

Not in Trinidad, yet, but in Durban. Everything’s kicking off over there and Australia have South Africa 14 for 3 – effectively four-down since Smith’s retired hurt. Bruteish fast bowling from Dale Steyn in the morning, and now Mitchell Johnson in the afternoon.

Beats the shit out of the Trinidad game.

Has been an awesome series, the Aussie bowling has been the difference in both games so far. Good signs for the Ashes later in the year..Hilfenhaus will be a handful on english wickets if he gets it right.

I agree with Richo. Hilfenhaus has bowled better in South Africa than I expected, and he could indeed be a handy player in England. Throw in Johnson, the reliable Siddle, and the other surprise in Andrew McDonald, and it’s hard to figure out where former players Clark, Lee, and Watson can fit back in once they recover from their respective injuries.

As for the pitch on day 2, totally, unbelievably odd. How can it go from mundane to unplayable?

This is seriously impressive stuff from Australia.

Back keener and meaner than ever and not augering well for our shot at the Ashes later this year.

Darryl, I honestly think Lee is done at test level, same with Symonds, I do think Clark and Watson still offer something…Things are looking good considering the doom and gloom that was predicted recently.
