There’s something wonderfully…. English about the despairing tone in my hollow laugh at this news….
Watson out of the Ashes

They’re going down like flies in Australia. Shane Watson, who has spent most of his life on crutches, has a stress fracture of the back and is almost certainly out of contention for the Ashes.
The 2009 Ashes promises to be a bare-knuckle fight to the death, by two average teams who think they’re better than they really are. I’m impossibly up for it.

I have nightmares of an Australian team made of underachieving all rounders playing an English team comprised entirely of wicketkeepers. :O

I think the coming Ashes will be a classic battle, however if the Aussie selectors opened their eyes to some of the amazing young talent we have in state cricket at the moment we could assemble a formidable line-up.
Spewin’ about Watson though I think if he had of played in Sydney and went to South Africa he would of realised his potential and unseated the over-rated Symonds from his spot in the team.

They’ve obviously mislaid their cork hats, they’s keep the flies away.

As someone who’s lived in Perth my entire life, I have never, ever, seen anyone walking in the streets with a cork hat. And it’s a good thing too; cork hat people are one of those very annoying types of people whom you’d tend to think ought to get smacked around for their own good- along with the “Baby on Board”-sign people and the “battlers” on the dole.

Very stereotypical and judgemental comment there ”Marcus”, most unintelligent comment i’ve seen during my short time as a contributer on this great site.

Take it easy Richo, it’s only a joke. And the irony is that it was in response to one of the more irritating stereotypes of Australia- the cork hat!
