Hayden’s finished

There. I said it. Matthew Hayden is no more. Worry not, world: his charge-of-the-light-brigade batting is a thing of the past.

HERESY! RANK… oh wait; you're English.

I appreciate that he may not be having his, err, best ever series but what makes you think it's gone forever? I mean, this sort of negativity is just the sort of thing that makes Australia batsmen score 300 in their next innings. (Not that there's likely to be time left in this match for that to happen… go Mr Cricket.)

Seriously though, I haven't actually seen any of this tour's cricket (no pay tv) so whence the certainty?

  2. Great word, whence. I've seen nothing of the series either, but it's
all part of the pommie's wont: making disparaging remarks about
Australian batsmen in the vain hope that another one might retire
ahead of the Ashes. He's ageing, he's not the force he was – ergo, he
    is finished.

  3. Next year, like every other time Australia tour England, the English press will denounce the Aussie side as the "Worst line up to tour our shores since [insert some really long ago date here]", the thing is,this time they'll be right!

  4. Never thought I'd hear you say that Stu. Still think it'll be a close
series … unless Harmison, Flintoff and Pietersen all have massive
    Tests. You're toast, then!

i agree with stu they haven't got one frontline spinner or a chance of beating india
though i think it is time for marsh to take haydens place

  6. Zaheer khan has terrorised lefthanded top order batsman around the world.Smith,Gayle,Sangakkara,Jayasuriya the english openers (whoever it was during india's england tour) & Hayden.Hayden & Sehwag are my 2 favourite batsman of all time. He'll be back .
Just 1 piece of advice for the english cricket media & the fans-I know the ashes is all you care for but there's a series going on in india which is quite exciting to say the least.England will tour india just after australia. You might have a few problems there. So basically- get the blinkers off.The world's a nice place.
