McGain? Krezja who?

By Will 2 years ago, at the end of September Add your comment below

I’ve returned to something resembling civilisation. At least, that appears to be the case, but for the head-scratching news of Australia’s two new spin wizards, Bryce McGain (a pensionable 36) and Jason Krejza (25). Who are these people and what and where is Shane Warne’s legacy? So much for him inspiring a clutch of angry leggies. Perhaps the Australia cricket team are providing Polish people work experience. Krejza isn’t very fair dinkum, is it?

Jokes aside, I haven’t the foggiest who these people are or whether they’re any good at spinning balls. Perhaps you do. In which case, tell the world below.

McGain, 36, former IT worker, steady like a train, more than a roller, less than a ripper, can’t bat, bowls almost no bad balls, computer like brain, and cricket with balls own.

Krezja, 25, big ripping offie, doesn’t take many wickets, flights the ball amazingly well, drink driver, got dropped by nsw for nathan hauritz, can bat, and had a bowling average of 40odd this season.

Visit cricket with balls the australian spinner specialists.

I think Uncle J Rod’s got it about right. McGain’s been the best domestic spinner in Australia for the last couple of seasons and is rated pretty highly by a lot of people here, including Warne. Krejza’s figures don’t make pretty reading, but I remember when I saw him play at the WACA last season and he bowled all his balls on an area the size of a dinner plate for over an hour. Not as good as Beau Casson, but Casson sustained an injury, and the selectors preferred to take a finger spinner to India because they’d suit the conditions better.

Krezja has potential, they need to get him in the nets with Greg Matthews. He’s not a bad bat at all either. McGain is significantly better than his leg spinning competition.

I think we’ve just got to give one of these fellas a bit of time in the side. As far as Warne’s legacy goes, it seems that the coaches don’t have the patience with spinners unless they show Warne-like signs straight away. We must remember that it took Warne a fair stint in the side to really get going, and once he did, well the rest is history.

Krejza is a domestic right arm spinner, conceding a whopping 45 runs per wicket in First Class cricket. McGain bowls leg spin and will probably be Australia’s attack bowler on Day 5. Siddle is a young, fast, strike-bowler, who’s taken 33 wickets at 15 runs each in the domestic game, but he has a shoulder injury. Bollinger is a left arm fast bowler who took 45 wickets for 15 runs each in the Pura Cup. Warne says Bryce McGain is the best spinner Australia have at the moment, so he’s the most likely to make the final eleven.

    Will!

The only way you couldn’t know who McGain is, is if you haven’t been visiting the Jrod, on “Cricket with Balls”. Do youself a favour and check it out! Very amusing read!

Also quite a time waster coz the guy is prolific. Jrod – you must post at least 3 or 4 times a day right?

I only saw Krejza bat in person while playing for NSW. He seemed to be able to hit the ball pretty hard.

McGain can’t seem to hit the ball at all… and bowls surprisingly few poor balls for a leg spinner.
