Trent Bridge’s new stand
By Will 3 months ago Leave a comment on this post
Trent Bridge’s new stand, on the Bridgford Road side, is unmissable. It leans backwards with the roof arcing upwards, in a white/cream colour - it’s quite a sight. All in all, Trent Bridge looks an absolute picture.
Much discussion over the stand’s effects on swing, too. There’s a piece in the papers today - I forget where - which looks into it further, but the theory is that new stands (or buildings or trees) can create its owm mini micro-climate which helps the balls to swing even more. Trent Bridge has always assisted the swingers, but watch out for Anderson, Sidebottom, Mills and co tomorrow. Rain forecast Friday, but all the statistics suggest it’ll be a match for the bowlers.

A match for the bowlers? It seemed like it after lunch but KP, as usual, seems to be enjoying hisself!

Seems that KP has got England to a competitive total. I still think that England will win this match but they can’t play like this against SA later this summer.

I understand the new stand isn’t named, which is a shame. I think the Clive Rice stand has a nice ring to it (he played for Notts, didn’t he?).
Very good game in the offing. I think the best thing for New Zealand in this series is how the openers have performed- even Redmond, who’s not making many runs, is staying with How long enough to put together some decent partnerships. I hope it continues.
Good to see you back, Wraye. It’s been what, a year?

Hi Marcus, yeah, about a year although I’ve been looking in a lot. Combination of home PC being fubar and I’ve been busy with European cricket. Got home to Lords last month for my first Test in 2 years, and it rained. Typical. England should easily be all out before lunch, but I’m very interested in what our boys can make of this pitch, especially Broad.
