Doesn’t the headline imply that his heart lies with West Indies? If that’s true then he should really play for them. Also, do England really want to be able to ‘buy’ players’ loyalties in this way?
Heart or wallet?

I had a good look at Chris Jordan, the West Indian 19-year-old fast bowler, while I was down at Hove. He looks to be the real deal - lovely smooth action of 12 steps, recoiling as he approaches his delivery stride and a classical follow through. It looks all natural. It was a dead pitch, though he did remove Matt Prior with quite a slippery bouncer.
Have a read of my interview with him. He’s still not sure if he’ll play for West Indies or England, so I pressed Clive Lloyd on the matter…who is clearly desperate to lure him back. I read the other day that Dennis Lillee is utterly convinced Jordan will play Test cricket.
The only question, then: for whom?

It’s not a question of buying players, it’s a question of being a desirable place to play. (It is universally acknowledged that India is the most desirable country for which to play, for example, again for reasons to do with money and fame and prestige). Clearly England want to be a desirable country for which to play, so I suppose the answer has to be yes, they do want to.

As a diehard Calypso fan, it’s interesting to read about ANOTHER west indian tyro being written about - Maurice Chambers.
Apparently this 20-year old roughed up the Kiwis real bad with pace and bounce.
Any updates?
