    One bit of good news…

By Jonathan Liew 5 months ago Leave a comment on this post

The rugby might be dismal, the footballers might have the summer off and the nation’s best sprinter might be a convicted drug cheat, but England’s women cricketers are, once again, flying the flag.

And let’s hear none of this “women’s cricket isn’t as good as men’s” baloney. It is in England. What we wouldn’t give to have Charlotte Edwards shoring up the men’s middle order. Or a Hoggard-Guha dream new-ball partnership…

Well, I don’t know too much about baloney, but based on what little I know about this Elyse Perry, I get the distinct impression that she could bowl circles around a certain Shane Watson! As for Charlotte Edwards, she has to be better than Bopara or Shah. Any sign of Ed Joyce for No. 6?

    Hard, grafting, proper test crickt.

Why can’t we have more of this, and less of the one-day rubbish?

I’ve heard it said that England runs between the wickets like a girl, but frankly that’s doing the girls a disservice. Will and I know one guy who’ll be chuffed to bits.

The ladies could have settled for a draw but went for the win and got it. Compare that with the debacle in Adelaide 15 months ago and you have to wonder which team’s got the balls, frankly.

I wonder if there’ll be an open-top bus parade when they get back?
