So the fourth day of the third Test and India are superbly placed to cause an upset. Australia need another 348 runs to win; India, another eight wickets. If Australia chase the runs down, it’ll be the second-highest run chase in the history of the game…while also handing them their 17th win in a row. It’s all rather massive.
I’m going to attempt to get up for the final session of the day, if the Test is still alive. In the meantime, check the scorecard and leave your comments below.

Mike? You *really* want to say that the umpiring in the 3rd test was as poor as in the 2nd? Really?
Well played India.
Adelaide should be another good contest.
that is mike’s rather poor attempt to conceal his whinging… hehehe… but seriously, adelaide should be great…
This result is prooving that australia can’t win (Continuessly 16 tests) without the support of the umpire, the reason for australia to loose 3rd test is playing without their main players such as bucknor and benson.
As a sri lankan, I feel, we also had a chance to win the second test in the australia but umpire gave a bad decision against sangakara and won the match for australia by 95 runs.
Great contest…..
Sachin over the top.
Dhoni over the top.
Hussey over the top.
Ricky… not over the top. (Two Times).
Roy.. Inside edge.
Evenly patchy umpiring for both sides.
Adelaide…. should be a cracker. I support India but suspect an Aussie “ONSLAUGHT”.
India Beware and maintain the tempo. For we are an inconsistent side.
Aussies are beatable… ofcourse. Haven’t we Indians beaten them often recently…. yes.. they have beaten us more…. but not comprehensively. India rising…. not necesarily Aussie falling…. Period
Great show India!!! However, I don’t think this is the beginning of the end of Oz dominance. India has always done well against Australia in tests. And the Aus winning streak had to end some time. As simple as that.
PERTH, AUSTRALIA. Besieged Australian captain Ricky Ponting sparked a fresh controversy in cricketing circles after claiming his team lost the Perth Test because “We just weren’t good enough” and “Our skills let us down”.
His comments were seized on by the Indian team, their former players and the BCCI, who all condemned Ponting for not complaining about the umpiring, the opposition, the weather or the sightscreen attendants.
Indian captain Anil Krumbleunderpressure, who attended the post-match press conference carrying a burning effigy of the Australian captain, said, “I phoned Ricky and begged him not to make those comments. Having played cricket for this long, I knew these comments would spiral into a larger issue. And that is exactly what has happened.”
“Only one team was playing outside the spirit of the game, that’s all I can say”, continued Krumbleunderpressure. When pressed to cite specific examples during this Test, he lashed out at journalists, snapping, “This was just one game. But our record speaks for itself. We’ve had far more players reported to the ICC for bad sportsmanship than any other country. Sourav [former captain Ganguly] is the most fined player ever, Bhaji [Harbajhan Singh] has been repeatedly found guilty of dissent, and Sachin [Tendulkar] and Rahul [Dravid] have been convicted of ball tampering. So we have enough history to back us.”
The game’s ruling body, the BCCI, supported the Indian captain in an official press release saying, “We are dismayed by the Australian captain’s comments, and will cancel all future tours south of the Equator if he doesn’t offer an immediate apology. He did the same after losing to England in 2005, when he had every opportunity to blame some poor umpiring decisions for Australia’s defeat. But he pig-headedly refused to do so. His comments now make us look like sore losers, whingers and cry babies following the Sydney Test.”
It continued, “Mr. Ponting also implies that Australia lost due to a lack of skill and application. This sets a dangerous precedent for the future. How can teams be expected to win by skill alone, without being allowed to exert political and financial pressure on umpires, referees and administrators?”
Former Indian captain Sunil Havacigar weighed in on the debate, saying, “I fully endorse the BCCI’s position. I feel honoured that the current Indian team is carrying on the legacy of poor sportsmanship I initiated in 1981, when I threatened to abandon a game after being given out by a white man. I’m not saying the Australians are racist, but there were times batting against them when they had as many as eleven players on the field. Eleven white men against two brown men – how could anybody consider that to be an equal contest?”
Australian journalist Peter Roadblock, when asked for his comments on Ponting’s behaviour, said, “Well, clearly I don’t have all the facts available. So all I will say is, ‘Sack him. Sack Cricket Australia. Sack all Australians’.”
Nice one Gihan
If only we could have batted with a bit more application in the first innings and made 300. Those extra 90 odd runs would have come in handy.
Sarcasm at its best. But one can’t expect anything else now.
lol Gihans post proves that the aussies r so pissed, and when u talk about Indian players being bad sportsmen, as they r fined the most, then all u should do is look beyond the biased Australian media reports an see how and why Indians were penalized by biased refs, for e.g Ganguly was banned for six test matchs for slow over rate! Then why not Pointing.
Harbhajan was penalized for dissent, but what about Glen Mcgrath abusing Ramnaresh Sarwan and nothing being done about that. If u still believe the records then u are plain stupid cause every one knows that the Australians are any one but good sportsmen.
Pushkar, I suggest you check your facts before calling people pissed, biased and stupid.
First, Ricky Ponting WAS penalised for slow over rates – see http://content-aus.cricinfo.com/ausvind/content/story/332294.html. He escaped suspension because he actually did something about it – unlike Ganguly.
Second, McGrath did not show dissent, so your comparison to Harbajhan is irrelevant. If you can’t tell the difference, look up the meaning of the word. For example, see http://www.lords.org/laws-and-spirit/spirit/spirit-of-cricket-preamble-to-the-laws,141,AR.html
By the way, to all the people who make unsubstantiated claims about Australia’s bad behaviour on the field, listen to Kumar Sangakkara of Sri Lanka, who said “the media hype has increased. It’s strange for me because when I came into the side, it was all about Australia saying this and saying that and being very verbally aggressive on the field. In the past four years, we’ve played quite a few series against them and we’ve never had any incident of that sort. There have been a few words said, but there has never been anything that is personally abusive. It was just a lot of tough, hard cricket being played.” See http://content-aus.cricinfo.com/talk/content/multimedia/330974.html?view=transcript
Gihan
Listen Gihan.
We all know malcolm speed is the CE) of the ICC.Need i say nore.JUst because kumar sangakkara or any other player says the aussies are great doesn’t mean it is so.
How old are you. You’re team wasn’t good enough in this series.Clearly india played better cricket than you & their reasons for losing are well documented.Even bad umpiring won’t save you in india.I have already posted that australia if they win even a game (& that includes practise matches) in india, i’ll agree to everything that you said.Yeah ponting was penalised for slow over rates, so what.that doesn’t mean anything. In the sub-continent dewey conditions cause matches to go longer than in any other part of the world.Hence if ganguly gets rapped , his opposite number too is punished. Also The mike dennes episode is documented as well. When you do it, its mental disintegration, when we do it , it becomes racism.Good Lord.Who has given you the divine right to sledge opponents ang get away with it.
We all know about the dravid, sachin ball-tampering issue.Just because you don’t have any fuckn ball skills & can’t move the ball in the air both ways you thinks indians & pakistanis are cheats.I don’t see a 4-0 result in india but i see an indian win with australia not winning any matches.Trying to get something of value out of your post is like trying to squeeze orange juice out of an apple. Are you always this ignorant, or are you making a special effort today? Reading your post makes blindness a wonderful thing to look forward to.Congratulations! You have just proved the theory that there is no limit to human stupidity. Clearly, you spend way too much time in darkened rooms in front of your seven-year-old computer turning a whiter shade of pale. Go outside once in a while and breathe, before your brain starts to rot from all that festering stagnation and cognitive dysfunction.GO away. You are so dumb, your fingers and toes are numbered. You give australian cricketers an even worse name by fighting for their cause.I’ll let you have the last word if you guarantee me it’ll be your last.
To AdityaVeer Singh Gill: Ha ha ha! Thanks so much. I had a really good laugh at your impersonation of a total ignoramus! It was excellent. Keep up the comedy – you’re very good at it.
To Gihan:”Ha ha ha! Thanks so much.”…………
Really boy??Point remains australia isn’t the best team in the world. Also, right now ponting is probably the worst batsman in the world. Stop kidding yourself, its ok to feel humiliated once in a while.I have that effect on fools.
