Harbhajan gets the monkey off his back

By Will 2 years ago, mid-January Add your comment below

Here’s Harbhajan Singh signing a fan’s t-shirt, and enjoying a rare lull from the media melee during India’s tour match against an Invitational XI in Canberra. But what’s that word on the front of the t-shirt?

It begins with an M and ends in a Y!

It’s Japanese actor Masaaki Sakai circa 1978 on the shirt, though I admit he wears lip gloss like Andrew Symonds. The t-shirt’s merchandise from the TV show “Voyage to the East”, which was popular in the UK (and apparently Aus) under the name “Monkey”.

“Monkey” wasn’t just popular in Australia, it was huge.

ah playing it as kids, grabbing brooms and rakes…

    “Bags Monkey!” ….

*waves two fingers in front of his mouth*

“But I don’t *want* to be Piggsy!!!!!!”

pulling cones and watching Monkey in high school….those were the days…

    Stroke of genius that man.

Correct me if I am wrong but don’t the Hindus have a monkey god “Hanuman”?

yeah, bhaji is sikh and sikh are not Hindus. But it doesn’t matter Sikh or Hindu I am proud of you bhaji. You and the rest of the Indian team showed those Australians what Indians are made of.
