why dont the australian govt raise some money and give him a car or bicycle for all his trouble and he will stop his whining for good.
too sad, he will end up in the losing side again today after all that bravado. 144 needed in 20 over now.

Andrew Symonds hits out
By Scott last year, mid-October Leave a comment on this post
Fresh after being subjected to monkey chants, Andrew Symonds has struck back by smashing a brilliant century in the sixth ODI. He’s also had a bit to say in a newspaper column.
Right now, I’m not allowed to comment on exactly what went on. But I’m not the most deadly serious bloke. Life goes on.
One thing I can comment on is that’s there is quite a bit of feeling between the two sides. Now that it’s started, I can’t see things changing greatly. We certainly won’t be taking a backward step.
The feeling has come from the carry-on that surrounded their Twenty20 world cup win. When we got here, it was just everywhere.
Our blokes thought it was really over the top. Some of the things their players have been given and the way they are treated, it’s like they are rock stars and princes.
…..
Since winning the Twenty20, the Indians have been very chirpy. Our first one-dayer was a very verbal affair and the third game was the same.
It was nice to give them a real thumping (in game five). They were very quiet after that game.
To be honest, I think they are showing a bit of bravado.
We’ve had the edge on them here and we’ll get them again in Australia this summer.
To be honest, I’d rather there was rather less of the verbals and a little bit more concentrating on batting and bowling. So far, the sixth ODI has been rather more peaceable- hopefully this trend will continue.

Say again Alex? Who is that ending up on the losing side exactly?
October 14th, 2007 at 12.54 pm
You do look a bit of a dill there, Alex, after that one. And I wouldn’t go too hard on a player who clearly doesn’t ghost his stuff. You want them all to talk like suits?
October 14th, 2007 at 7.48 pm
For a change I agree with the Aussies here! Roy is spot on about the bravado and all that jazz after the 20-20 win. The Indian team does get carried away.
October 14th, 2007 at 8.12 pm
pseudoku…
carried away? of course.. it was a world cup! what do you expect…
that said, symonds has all the right to be pumped up after the rather fantastic 100 he hit today…
October 14th, 2007 at 10.16 pm
monkeys to you, India! got all the talk but can’t walk the walk.
October 15th, 2007 at 2.43 am
That innings was a fine example of controlled aggression. How was the six out of the ground. Definitely a better game to watch without a lot of the hooha that has gone on in the rest of the series.

There goes Symonds sportsmanship. Let him stop whining about all that the Indians get. Damn! its not his money or the Cricket Australia’s money. It is BCCI’s money and its none of his or his fellow blokes buisness. By the way whats special about a rock star or a prince, symonds? Just get over your jealousy.
No doubt the Aussies are still the best in the world & will be in the near future, a T20 wc loss is not going to change it. The Indians would be better off doing what is natural to them & sledging sure doesn’t seem to be their way. They better let the the performance do all the talking…

there is no sight more enjoyable in the game today than to see sreesanth getting thulped.
weep, andre nel, weep.
October 15th, 2007 at 5.21 am
Well we lost - and that matters.. couldnt sleep the last night. Well.. wat can we do folkes.. we eat, drink, sleep cricket.. its all about culture .. Symonds will see (”princes” and “heroes”) it again and again.. its upto him how he takes it .. its his problem that he could not see us enjoying the moment .. and started murmuring from that point itself (No doubt on his exceptional talent to proove himself at the same time) even if its not world cup we will rejoice the same way … I agree that we should know the basics of cricket though.
October 15th, 2007 at 6.02 am
We did get carried away after 20-20 and it shows now…if u can’t walk the talk, just shut up…yesterday’s was a game we shud’ve won hands down and still ended up losing…
October 15th, 2007 at 7.30 am
the aussies just got lucky here. it could have gone either way. i love the utter disdain and contempt that robin uthappa has for the aussie bowling.
there is no fun in beating australia in india anyway, u r going to whine anyway, hostile crowds, batting pitches etc. the real fun will be to beat australia in australia.
October 15th, 2007 at 7.36 am
I love it when you’re lucky to be 4-1 up in a series. Or are we unlucky not to be up 5-1 given the first game being washed out? Alex it is that same attitude of so called disdain and contempt for Australian cricket that has India losing this series.
October 15th, 2007 at 9.22 am
Where did luck play a part? I wud agree if u say India self-destructed…it was a game to be won…but, we snatched defeat from the jaws of victory…
October 15th, 2007 at 9.35 am
Alex is all mouth. Like I said, nuts to him.
October 15th, 2007 at 1.30 pm
lol, i am just doing a lil “mental disintegration” bit myself. so it did take the shine off a bit when i say the aussies got lucky didnt it!!!
ask any 10 year old kid in any obscure remote lil village in India and he will tell you Australia is the best team in the world.
they must also be the only whining, rude and not very civilised winners in the world. symonds is one true rare specimen
October 16th, 2007 at 1.58 am
for his fearlessness, i’d like to see Uthappa score a Test double first before we get too carried away.
Remember they said the same about Symonds, and what a crap test player he’s turned out to be. Any tom, dick or bevan can be a world beater at the pyjama game.

Ricky Ponting says
A few of the Indians have reacted very much with aggressive body language and trying to force themselves upon us, and I think the way some of them are playing their cricket that they have also misinterpreted what aggressive cricket means.
Andy Gilchrist says
I saw some really hard fought cricket,There were some comments between different players and that happens.I also saw a few things that I wouldn’t expect from my son Harrison in a backyard game of cricket. There is no doubt the way Sreesanth wants to play cricket. When we get our chance, we’ll play aggressive cricket too.
Anyways, let us have a look on what Gilchrist expects from his son Harrison to do in game of Cricket and what Ricky ponting means from Aggression?
Sledging incidents involving Australians
Ravi shastri v/s Mike Whitney
Shastri hits the ball towards Mike Whitney (the 12th man in the game) and looks for a single, this guy gets the ball in and says
Whitney: “If you leave the crease i’ll break your f***ing head”
Shastri didn’t bat an eyelid before replying : ” If you could bat as well as you can talk you wouldn’t be the f***ing 12th man”
McGrath Vs Brandes
In a showdown of best pacers of two countries, Brandes made up for his complete absence of batting skills by some displaying some great sense of humor and presence of mind.
Aussie paceman Glenn McGrath was bowling to Zimbabwe number 11 Eddo Brandes - who was unable to get his bat anywhere near the ball. McGrath, frustrated that Brandes was still at the crease, wandered up during one particular over and inquired: ” Why are you so fat?”
Quick as a flash, Brandes replied: “Because every time I make love to your wife, she gives me a biscuit .
McGrath to Ramnaresh Sarwan
Sarwan, the West Indies vice-captain, and McGrath went toe-to-toe in an ugly shouting match in Antigua in May 2003, The incident was sparked after Sarwan, on his way to a match-winning second-innings century, reportedly reacted to lurid taunts from McGrath by telling him he should get the answers from his wife, who was recovering from radiation therapy for secondary cancer. The details :
McGrath: “So what does Brian Lara’s d*ck taste like?”
Sarwan: “I don’t know. Ask your wife. “
McGrath (losing it): “If you ever F*cking mention my wife again, I’ll F*cking rip your F*cking throat out.”
Steve Waugh Vs Curtly Ambrose Episode
It really does not get any bigger than this, the two legends of cricket came face to face, literally and engrossed in a verbal duel in a test match in Trinidad. All the juicy details were not to be known until Steve Waugh came out with his autobiography.
Ambrose repeatedly stared Waugh down during a searing spell, and Waugh, who sized up the towering Ambrose, said: ” What the f*ck are you looking at? “
Ambrose was stunned because, as Waugh says (in his Autobiography), “no one had ever been stupid enough” to speak to him like that.
Ambrose replied, “Don’t cuss me, man”, before Waugh’s response, which had nothing to do with bowling.
“Unfortunately, nothing inventive or witty came to mind, rather another piece of personal abuse: ‘Why don’t you go and get f*cked.’ “
The Windies skipper Richie Richardson had a hard time keeping Ambrose from hurting the Aussie.
Ian Healy Vs RANatunga
Ian Healy’s made a legendary comment which was picked up by the Channel 9 microphones when Arjuna Ranatunga called for a runner on a particularly hot night during a one dayer in Sydney… ” You don’t get a runner for being an overweight, unfit, fat c*nt!”
Mark Waugh Vs Adam Parore
Mark Waugh was standing at second slip, Adam Parore relatively new to cricket came to the crease played & missed the first ball.
Mark Waugh- “Ohh, I remember you from a couple years ago in Australia. You were sh*t then, you’re fu*king useless now”.
Parore- (Turning around) “Yeah, that’s me & when I was there you were going out with that old, ugly sl*t & now I hear you’ve married her. You dumb c*nt “.
Robin Smith and Merv Hughes
During 1989 Lords Test, Merv Hughes said to Robin Smith after he played and missed: ” You can’t f*cking bat”.
Simth replied, both with the bat and with words, he smashed Hughes to the boundry and said ” Hey Merv, we make a fine pair. I can’t f*cking bat and you can’t f*cking bowl .”

I still rmember the greatest line ever in TV comedy- from the Fawlty Towers episode “The Germans.”
MAJOR GOWEN: (talking about taking a gilrfriend to watch India at the Oval) “And the funny thing was, she kept refering to the Indians as ‘n*****s.’ ‘NO NO NO!’ I said. N*****s are the WEST Indians. The Indians are w**s! And she said, ‘No, all cricketers are n*****s.’”
There you have it. “All Cricketers are n*****s.” Really makes you wonder what all this racial stuff is about, doesn’t it? ![]()

Now that australians getting the same treatment what their fans have being doing for years.
October 18th, 2007 at 6.22 pm
I really cant see how calling someone a ‘monkey’ can be termed as cracial abuse. I can accept the fact that they crowd were haressing the player, which should not of course happen. If this is the case, I fully support the australian complaint.
However, I can see huge similarities between this and how the Australian crowds treat Muralitharan everytime he tours there. Similar to Symonds in Australia, the home crowd in Australa attempt to break the concentration of a potential threat with haressment.
If Australians are complaining about this incident, I sincerely hope that Muralitharan will be given a better reception when he comes there in a few weeks tim.
October 19th, 2007 at 1.33 am
Mahen - “I really can’t see how calling someone a ‘monkey’ can be termed as racial abuse. Nice one mate. You’ve just cleared up an issue. Making monkey noises at someone who is of West Indian, or African-American descent is one of the worst insults you can give. It is essentially saying they are lesser people than the rest of us. It’s a throwback to the days of black slavery and racial segregation. And you can compare that to the boorish calls of ‘no ball’ every time Murali bowls. You tool.
October 19th, 2007 at 8.48 am
I agree. However, I wish that the Australian public made the same public outcry when Darren Lehman called Sanath Jayasuriya a ‘Black Monkey’during a match. If you give it on the pitch, you should really be able to take it.
Crying foul whenever you have been wronged is not the right way to go about it. MAny similar comments can be made about Brett Lee’s, Haydn’s and Pontings behaviour on the field whenever Australia seem to be losing a match.
October 19th, 2007 at 10.12 am
Let me get this straight, Mahen. Symonds is Australian and black. Another Australian - white - in the past was graceless, boorish and racist in calling Jayasuriya a ‘black c***’ (IIRC). So when a *very large* number of spectators make monkey noises and gestures at Symonds for a prolonged period, and boo him both onto and off the field, the message for him and those of us who find this completely contemptible and happen to be Australians is ‘If you give it on the pitch, you should really be able to take it’. Is that really what you are claiming?
October 19th, 2007 at 10.46 am
Everyone out there. hello, good morning evening afternoon night. you can have a few spectators in a stadium starting something stupid and what you see is a wave.allmost everyone is carried away.its bordering and even crossing the line of racistic.even someone like me who want to concentrate on the match is tilted. sport public taking a day off leave behaviour back home.they are not a bulk of sociologist or anthropologist.only when the camera is on their nose they put a brake.
October 20th, 2007 at 1.47 pm
yes. the australian public and press haress visiting teams much more than anywhere else in the world. I hope that this incident would show that this type of behaviour is not favourable for visiting teams, and would theregore treat visiting teams with a bit more grace in the future.
The acid test is going to be when Murali tours there in a few weeks time. If the Australian public treat him the same as they have done over the past or so, I really cant see the Australian team getting a good reception whenver they tour.
Like I said, if you are willing to give it, then be prepared to take it and not call foul like backyard bullies.
