For those who missed it, like me, here’s the video of India’s bowl-out in the World Twenty20 against Pakistan. Cricinfo’s comms is useful too.

Good video. I recommend starting it; pausing it and walking away or do something else for a few minutes so you can watch it clearly without buffering interruptions.

How close was the penultimate ball to a wide?
Still, this isn’t a match India won, it’s a match Pakistan lost.

One to win from two balls in a T20 should be as straight forward as they come. You run on a miss to the keeper, especially as that second last ball had Dhoni fielding the ball pretty wide. You don’t take chances on the final ball.

Was probably a teeth biting 20 minutes for IND or PAK fans though!

It’s a bit fun, but seems even more arbitrary than a penalty shoot-out. Why not evtra overs? Or even alternating “Golden Balls” until one team pulls ahead? Unlike soccer, those are almost guaranteed to produce a result fairly quickly.

An as S Rajesh pointed out on Cricinfo, a definite result wasn’t strictly even necessary for prelim matches.
