    Sir Ian Botham

By Will last year, mid-June Leave a comment on this post

Ian Botham has been knighted. Richly deserved; his charity work doesn’t receive as much publicity as someone of his status might/should generate. More to the point…are his Sky colleagues now going to have to call him by his full title? He’s going to love every minute of this I suspect.

Of course he will love every minute, and why not - fully deserved IMHO.

I first met Beefy back in the early 70’s and he has made me laugh and cry since then. Always talented, always bringing cricket into the news, he’s a Marmite bloke - you either love him or hate him. Sometimes he really doesn’t know what he is talking about but his charity work is fabulous.

Personally, love the man and think that this award is well deserved. Better Beefy than Beckham!

Kia ora from the bleak hills of Wellington. Last night, waiting for the Durham Test to start we put together a cheeky wee tribute to the one and only Ian Botham - it is on our blog for your aural pleasure here…http://www.beigebrigade.co.nz/blog/?p=272

Congrats to Ian Botham on his knighthood. In fact it should be Sir Sir Ian Botham on both is contribution to cricket and his charity work.

My hope is that his status is not devalued by the rumour of such an award for a certain David Beckham who is just a product of the Age of Mediocre both as a footballer and a human being.

Sir Ian will be long talked about after Brand Beckham has been forgotten
