Video of Kevin Pietersen losing his helmet

By Will last year, mid-June Leave a comment on this post

Dwayne Bravo dismissed Kevin Pietersen yesterday, hit wicket, when a bouncer zeroed in on his head, smashing his helmet off which then landed on his stumps. Here’s the video.

Fascinating to see Bravo’s euphoric celebration while Pietersen stands there, stunned and shocked.

Interesting that The Ego seems to struggle against not so quick short balls. That one hitting him in the head at 76 mph, and Mcgrath breaking his ribs, not sure at what speed, but Mcgrath hasn’t been express for a while.

Oh, Chris, Interesting that ‘THE EGO’ is the 3rd bet batsmen in test cricket and the best in ODI cricket. So KP really doesn’t struggle with short balls. He got loads in the ashes. And none did any damage. The rib breaker wasin the cb series. KP SHOULD BE REINSTATED! And Bravo for a public hanging!

Nice bite Jess, but I didn’t say he struggles against the short ball, but the medium pace short ball. I didn’t mention the Ashes either, didn’t want to rub it in any more.

Hmm, not sure why Bravo should celebrate any less emphatically, given that the 3rd best batsman in Test cricket failed to stop his bouncer hitting him on the head. Its not Bravo’s fault that KP uses substandard equipment now is it?
So good on Bravo, good that he enjoys his cricket.

The umpires decision must have been that Pietersen was out. However, the umpire (and everyone else) was wrong to come to that decision, in my opinion.
Rule 35A says that the batsman is out if his body or equipent breaks the wicket AS A RESULT OF HIS OWN ACTIONS in playing the ball

This was NOT as a result of Pietersen’s actions in PLAYING the ball, it was a direct result of Bravo’s action, not Pietersen’s.
Anyway, the chinstrap must have been faulty on the KP’s helmet!
