A great opportunity for Kevin Pietersen to go berserk today, and likewise for Matt Prior. Rain is forecast, and it’s going to be torrential tomorrow…so quick runs are needed. Scorecard - and Ceefax is below:

565/6 - Peitersen and Plunkett going at 7 an over; looks like a declaration is afoot!

    …as I type it occurs.

    Two early wickets for sidebottom!
The selectors will be chuffed with themselves, particularly after Vaughan’s century yesterday.

Great innings for Pieterson - looking more and more controlled but maintaining his flair!

And Harmison has bowled three overs without a wide!!!!

A great day of cricket. Thoroughly of enjoyable. The selectors must be feeling sunny with their selection of Sidebottom: a brilliant performance from him. And Harmy and Plunkett seemed to grow more confident through the day.

KP is just looking more and more mature. It’s exciting for the rest of the summer!
