Looks murky out there. If they’re able to let Harmison loose in this it’s going to be carnage. I’d like to see them stick with Monty just in case the sun comes out over the next few days. Collingwood can easily offer enough overs to get away with 3 pace bowlers.

It’s not chucking it down. That’s the good news. But it is drizzling, so we might be in for a delayed start and a stop-start kind of day. Looks like Flintoff will miss out.
Keep an eye on the commentary and leave your thoughts below.

Well, my SkyTV has gone down and when I ring up customer service, their message says they are overloaded with calls so at least it’s not just me.

Team’s out: Shah in, Flintoff out presumably because his batting alone is not worth risking further injury. Teamsheet is as follows
1 Andrew Strauss (capt), 2 Alastair Cook, 3 Owais Shah, 4 Kevin Pietersen, 5 Paul Collingwood, 6 Ian Bell, 7 Matt Prior (wk), 8 Liam Plunkett, 9 Steve Harmison, 10 Matthew Hoggard, 11 Monty Panesar.
So Bell has been lumped with the tail again – it worked last year, but with the conditions, he might be in a bit earlier than expected. Ever the optimist, me. But here come those Calypso taps…

does anyone have an outside UK radio stream link?

For any Kiwi viewers, I’ve just found out online that SKy is out across the country due to the failure of the Optus B1 satellite which has become destabilised — it’s quite serious, affecting some air traffic control and Fire Services comms too. The satellite, which is the main one for the Asia-PAcific area, is spinning out of control and may be unrecoverable, according to Geekzone.

paste

directly into windows media player…you might have to try 4 or 5 times, over 5 or 10 minutes, but once connected it stays up

I find it ironic that in the first ten overs of a Test, we get to 39/0, while in the first ten overs of our crunch match ODI with South Africa in the World Cup, we got to 28/1
-Update-
And after 11 overs it’s 45/0 as against 29/1 in that ODI. Hmm.

It’s amazing how much better the English team looks when there’s no Australians around..

I find it amusing that I get to see the live coverage of this test in India while you guys are struggling:-)

Woooooo hoooooo! 4 tons up! Nice! Moores and the England selectors will be pretty pleased with themselves tonight. Especially with the Prior pick. [applause] Showed a lot of “Gilchrist” controlled aggro in his batting from what I gleaned reading the cricinfo comms. Now if he can only do even half as well behind the stumps. [salivates]
