Some cracking photos from Peter Meade of MCC v Sussex.

Matthew Hoggard in typical unrestrained, relaxed, un-mediary pose:

Wonderful pictures. Hoggy is such a treat. It’ll be a sad day for England when his career is finally over. But considering his professional attitude, his freedom from injuries, and his constant work on his game (er, forget the batting though), I think that’ll be a few years away yet. (I hope I haven’t jinxed you, Matthew!)

As for Steve, well, he is what he is. You can’t take the personality away from the player. I’m sure he’ll be happier though, when he’s grabbing himself a five-fer or two.

Beautiful pictures. I agree, Kathy, Hoggy is a treat. I want to mother him. Still, it is strange to see him wearing the bacon and eggs colours. The MCC have made some very canny selections, especially with Ali Cook as captain. There’s a lot of talent there. This is a game well worth following. In whites, over 4 days, with a red ball. Oh joy.

Question: Why is Hoggard not regarded as an ODI bowler?

He never had much success, Tom, but moreover he hates one-day cricket and isn’t afraid to tell people!
