Bangladesh sink sloppy South Africa

By Will last year, at the start of April Leave a comment on this post

Get in there! The Deshis are doing it. Rumours of infighting in the South African squad (Kallis was threatened to be moved down the order. He wasn’t happy about it. So he went out there, trying to smash it around and was less than amused when he got out.)

This is just what this doomed tournament needs. Check the scorecard out and leave your thoughts.

Great news for England this! Even if they lose to the Aussies, they aren’t out.

Thing is, Tim, if they can do this to SA, what will they do to England and WI?

And now Nel has gone. It’s all over well nearly, are the crowd on the pitch?

Crap South African’s can’t play cricket. Time to come home

    Sean

The answer is… England and WI will beat them comfortably because SA have not played up to par for the last 3 years. Nel is the most arrogant dumbass in the game and hasn’t got the talent to back it up. Smith should stop chewing and start batting like a human being. This whole tournament South Africa has survived on dumb luck. They haven’t looked like the top ranked team in the world. They should go back to basics and forget about the poor attempts at “showmanship”. I’m burning my SA cricket shirt tonight if anyone cares to join me.

    Cheers

Good on the Bangladeshis! This really sets the cat among the pigeons — opens up gaps in the four top spots.

    Bob,
Why should England and the WI suddenly beat SA comfortably? They haven’t looked the slightest bit comfortable themselves, winning or losing, I predict SA will fight back. The y’re not known for giving in, just a bit of choke every now and then! :-) (like most teams)

Way to go, ‘deshis! Always had a soft spot for these boys after meeting my boyfriend at the first Test v England at Lords in 2005. Ahhh, bless. Love to see Smith’s nose put out of joint. Brilliant win. Well done!

What this does is make the lower teams in the super 8 feel like anything is possible if they turn up with a bit of magic on the day.

Well said, Kathy. Magic on the day counts. Perhaps despite all our rants and raves, we are possibly seeing what a real World Cup is all about with big boys getting stuffed in their own complacency and the minnows, with their hunger and energy, coming up trumps. SA were outplayed. Well done :)

In fighting in the SA squad? Do tell.

I read Neil Malanthorp’s report on Super Cricket and he implies something was not right with Kallis. I can’t seem to find anything beyond insinuations at the moment.

    Anyone got anything more significant?

Alas, Wraye, not enough magic on the day for England. :-(

Was talking to my mother on the phone and she was incredulous that the Black Caps’ successes weren’t giving me much joy. Alas, I am always doomed to hanker for the underdog.

I think bangladesh and Ireland would swap their “minnows” tag with India and Pakistan once the Cup is over.

well said, som. India and Pakistan are always BIGSHOT in their countries and(of course, by their media). in abroad they have always been minow actually.
I praise Bangladeshi cricketers for their brave run and also the Irish. They are fighting to proof them, what makes the game more interesting.
May be they will loose rest of the games, but I would like to congatulate them for their bravery.

well i think bangladesh is not a minow anymore. i saw their matches live and its not that the opponent played bad and they got the win as a gift .. as a matter of fact its quite the opposite , bangladeshies outplayed their opponents in all departments on those respective matches. and anyone saw their batting will admit that its a delight the way they bat and field. the three left arm spinner got class . and ashraful, tamim , aftab and other young guns blasted it through.

for now , the way bangladesh playing .. they are my favourite for the semifinals :)
