Two cracking games today: Australia v Scotland; Canada v Kenya. I still fancy Scotland to upset somebody, perhaps not Australia though. Stranger things happen though.

I’ve a day off so will miss both of them…leave your own thoughts below.

Scotland win the toss and bowl; Kenya win the toss and bowl.

So far so good for the Scots; Australia 0 for 9 in the third, and Hayden was lucky to survive an LBW first ball.

The problem is that Watson is a classical batsman that bowls a bit. He’s not more suited as a #7 then I am. He’s the obvious replacement for Hayden, and we’re in a bit of a bind while Gilly and Hayden are there.

See once they are gone, we play Haddin at 7 and Watto opening.. and they are in their right places.

334 is fine. We lost a bit of impetus with the rain, but all in all 334 is fine. It was okay for Bradman at Leeds.

I’ll never accept the “right place argument”. Michael Bevan, Mike Hussey and even Brad Hodge to a certain degree show that to play in the outstanding Australian outfit you MUST be flexible. I definitely agree batsman find a place they call home; but if you look at some of our greats they’ve moved around quite a bit.

Mark Waugh didn’t start opening for a long time. Gilchrist used to bat way down the order. Ponting batted at 6 when he first showed up.

334 is great! We ought to include the selfless Mark Taylor (334*) in that magic number as well.

Last three scores of 300+ in a World Cup belong to Australia. Interesting.

I disagree completely with the current Cricinfo splash headline that “Game on a knife edge” between Kenya and Canada. Seriously, who’s writing this? Required rate is 3.86 with 8 wickets in hand. Yes, Kenya just lost a wicket but it isn’t a knife’s edge. Ouma is looking good and the best Non-Test playing batsman in the world just joined him - Steve Tikolo.

Canada hits back with two wickets probably better tells the story.

Yes, Scotland played admirably just as they did in 1999. A bit unlucky to draw Australia twice out of two appearances, and they should hold their heads up high. Other minnows have definitely not played as well; Namibia and USA come to mind.
