only the Indians are this mad about cricket! Even Jacob Oram was kidding. Men selling kidneys, men coming up with cars in the shape of bats, men burning effigies of “grag chapel” and riots in the street when Ganguly’s not chosen – only in India.
Selling kidneys to watch the cricket

Would you sell your one of your kidneys to watch your team in the Caribbean? No, nor me.
An Indian man is selling a kidney so he can afford to watch the World Cup Cricket tournament.
Garment salesman Sarun Sharma, of Jamshedpur, is hoping to raise about £3,500 for one of his kidneys, so he can travel to the West Indies to watch the cricket.Any prospective buyer will have to pay for the organ in advance and will receive the kidney on his return.
Sharma, 23, said: “I am really serious. I am prepared to give one of my kidneys in lieu of money, as I want to go to West Indies to see India playing in the World Cup.“What’s wrong with the offer? I know several people who are living with one kidney. “My family cannot afford to fulfil my wishes.”
I hope for the sake of the buyer that Mr Sharma doesn’t drink himself, and his kidneys, stupid…

Wales is pretty special, too, when it comes to rugby. I remember a fan sold all the slates from his roof to fund a trip to Twickenham, leaving his wife and kids to live under pouring rain.
Then there was that guy who cut off his balls when they lost.

Ouch!
Let’s hope cricket never gets too popular in South America: in one footie game, a spectator shot the referee when his team lost. Put into context, Mr Hair got off lightly then.

And don’t forget the Columbian goalie who got shot for failing at a World Cup a while back either.
India are hosting the next World Cup. Mr Sharma should just save up for that one.

Yeah, thats stupid. Though he will never get to do that as its illegal to sell kidney in India. You can only donate a kidney, you cant sell it. You can read more about it here:

I also remember a Pakistani shot his tv and then himself when Pakistan lost to India in the 7996 world cup. We have some insane cricket fans in Asia.

Scott: are you thinking of Andres Escobar? He wasn’t a goalie, but rather a defender.

Even if he sold his kidney, good luck getting airfare this close to the World Cup, let alone tickets to Indian games. It’s all a media grabbing moment. What people will do…
