Rather nice to see Netherland’s ten Doeschate put the wind up India, but now Dravid and Tendulkar are at bat, I’m expecting things to change quickly.

Funny story. Technical difficulties in the Caribbean is preventing scorecard ball by ball updates of Australia v Zimbabwe. Yet someone is posting photo’s of the game. Hmmm…

I was somewhat keeping up with the game via photos. =D I knew Watson scored 81, Ponting was out and Haddin had a bat.

So Bangladesh beat New Zealand.
It’s getting to the point where you can’t even call Bangladesh as a minnow anymore. Mark Waugh on television on Monday tipped them to surprise, and he might be right.

Well, Scott, Bangladesh now have a Kiwi (2007) and an Australian (2005) notch on their one-day belt. Good for them! There will be much wailing and gnashing of teeth in the media here, of course.

Bloody epic. I loved writing the bulletin for that game. Well done the deshis.
Incidentally, being the egotistical types that I know you all are, you can now see who the top commenters are on the left-hand-side. Based on the last two months. Michael’s in front with 46, closely followed by the prolific and very lovely Kathy. Wraye, though, has rather let the Germans down and is struggling in fourth position on a meagre 30. The less said about Scott the better.

Michael - funny you said that because that’s exactly what I ended up doing. I actually went to the Getty images site and typed in cricket in the search box.

They upload their stuff pretty fast and they give a brief summary of the game.
Sad that the warmup games weren’t broad cast live except for the Eng and Ind ones. I would have like to watched them.

good that bangla won.. i was getting sick of all the pundits minnow bashing..
the other day ireland almost caused an upset too..
if they’re going to get better then they need to be given a chance at the top cricket tournament..
in the last cup nobody expected kenya to end up in the semis..

Yup. Ego. That’s what I’m here for. That and simpering about Michael Vaughan, and being bullied by Australians.
And I’m not just saying this to try to catch up with Michael.
Shutting up now.

Any news on who will be streaming the world cup via the web in europe? willow.tv is only offering it for north america. i’m looking for an “official” web stream not one of those pirated ones..
satellite is not an option for me.. so i really hope there’s a web offering..
ecb tv was awesome for following the last england-pak series over the web..

Is Bangladesh winning that much of an upset? Someone said that they are losing the tag of a minnow and they are completely right. They have a more than impressive crop of young spinners, some of which could probably get into the Australian and South African teams, and a couple of batsmen who are more than willing to take the attack up to the bowlers and slaughter them.
Maybe if they played some games that didn’t involve Tendulkar, Murali and Zimbabwe, we’d be able to see how much they’ve progressed.

Banh, you better not ask that of a Kiwi! Good on the ‘deshis though, well played. So I’m down in 4th place? Oh no! Must do more to support the Associates ![]()

It is only a warm up game but confirms my belief that New Zealand are alongside WI and PAK in terms of playing like men possessed or like schoolboys.
The Sri Lanka series was woefully up and down, the Commonwealth Bank Series down and the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy was way up. They’re going to have to find a whole lot of consistency and find it quickly.
March 7th, 2007 at 9.55 pm
so after the first set of one dayers, we’ve learnt that teams are consistently inconsistent. south africa, no.1 in the world struggle against ireland. Kiwis, who are tipped strongly, beaten by Bangladesh…
makes the case for australia winning the thing even stronger i reckon. still strong favourites, the only team you’d put money on.

wraye - in reference to your post 6th march (first in this discussion) do I see an americanism creeping in..
sounds like dravid and tendulkar are playing baseball rather than cricket!

Guilty as charged, Tom. I have obviously been on the Continent too long, only get to speak English at the cricket!
