And so it starts, England 5 down to Bermuda after 20-odd overs. What can one say? Ah, yeah, it’s only a warm-up.

So, the warm-ups are upon us. Today’s are as follows
Bermuda v England
Arnos Vale Ground, Kingstown, St Vincent
Ireland v South Africa
Sir Frank Worrell Memorial Ground, St Augustine, Trinidad
Scotland v Sri Lanka
Three Ws Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados
Kenya v West Indies
Trelawny Stadium, Jamaica
It should be particularly fascinating watching, or hearing about, Scotland battle against Sri Lanka and Kenya’s match against the West Indies. Anyway, this is being posted a couple of days in advance so who knows what might happen between now and Monday afternoon. Waffle away in the comments below.

It could be worse, they could be 105/8 after 30 overs like the South Africans against the Irish…

argh, England. South Africa’s just lost their 9th wicket for 179 against Ireland. This World Cup looks set to be awesomely exciting already.

Omg. Bermuda routed for 45. Does this count as a ODI? Look at England’s bowling figures. Let’s hope Bermuda can do better than this.

Great fight by Ireland.
And I love the big Bermudan policeman!
And Vaughan, whatever you might say about his time out of the game, his injury proneness, and his lack of performance in the one-day game, had a strike-rate of well over 100 percent, as was the case in the one-dayers he managed to play in Australia, so whatever happens to him, he’s not going to die wondering, he’s going to go for it.

Kathy - sure Vaughan’s strike rate was over 100, but still he was out for 18. That’s fine if you’re batting at 8 or 9, but for a top order batsman it’s just another failure.
An average of 27.7 after 77 games is just plain poor.
I cannot understand the English obsession with Vaughan.

Gawd… I want to fly to the Caribbean so I can cover the AUS v ZIM game so I can get the ball by ball updates…
And Kym, spot on! Vaughn is not an ODI player. He just isn’t.
