"I think their minds were already on the plane home. I am just not sure they were here to play today."
Jamie Siddons on Bangladesh's performance in the last league match of the Asia Cup Jul 4, 2008
All you people who have been watching this ‘Big Brother’ imbroglio should hang your heads in shame. When the British Prime Minister is commenting on it, then it’s a sure sign that England’s sense of priorities are warped. No wonder England’s cricket team doesn’t win much.
Mind you they came close last night- a four wicket victory and a bonus point to Australia doesn’t indicate how tense it was out there for a while. That Australia won was due to the nerves and good luck of Michael Hussey, who got a clear edge early in his innings. However, unlike Adam Gilchrist, he’s never been a walker.
Who knows what might have happened if England had set Australia a decent target? England got their first opening partnership of 50 thanks to the introduction of Mal Loye. The rest of them went down to McGrath and co very meekly.
And to make matters worse for England, Michael Vaughan won’t be available for another couple of matches. England’s one day summer is turning out as bad as was feared.
Yeah, I was reading the Big Brother brouhaha and I couldn’t believe how much crap it all was — why anyone bothers to watch it or take part in it. Mind you, Australians get all excited over Big Brother too, don’t they Scott? So I’m not sure about the cricket link…
As for the England ODI performances, I think they’re showing signs of hope — certainly a gritty bowling performance yesterday which is more than they’ve put together in a long while. And I like the look of Mal Loye.
when jade and her family went in to big brother again i knew there well be trouble soon in the house and that danelle started iwth the bitchness and she had turned jade and jo against shelpa and jad is a two face racist bitch and her life is gone her fame has gone she knows she has a bad temper and her attudude is not good at all and big brother has turn nto a big distaster jade bullied ken russell and now shelpa and shelpa should not forgive jade as she is a bully and jade was a bulled around her life you would think its not nice to do it to other people. and i think danelle should be gone next and then everyone will be ok. the bitchness will be stopped i think and big brother has failed this time around i think i will give big brother marks out of 10 the answer is 2.
When there was a sexual assault on Australian Big Brother I think Little Johnny commented on it. Perhaps that was about the time that we lost the Ashes. Maybe you have something there, Scott.
Bad news for England - Michael Vaughan is out.
Worse news for England - Freddie regains the captaincy.
Little Johnny commented on what utter crap the programme was and how it shouldn’t be on TV. Could cause major electoral problems in 4 years time when all the viewers turn 18. Won’t be his problem though.
But own up now, how many of you English are barracking strongly for Australia tonight. Don’t want those Kiwis getting on a roll so we finish bottom yet again, do we?
Andrew Schulz — I wouldn’t start worrying about us Kiwis yet, since we haven’t managed to squeak a game. But, given that I’ve accepted how superior Australia are, this series is getting more interesting as it goes along as the games are getting tighter and tighter, and the gods that are called Hayden and Gilchrist are showing the odd toe of clay.
And Hammy, it’s very odd, the England selectors’ attitude to Freddie — is this all about protecting his ego? I’m more worried about Strauss’s ego — he’s in a bad place and is struggling to get out of it.
Kathy - who knows what the England selectors are thinking? It certainly would be a blow to Freddie’s ego to lose the captaincy, but still be playing well enough to keep his place, but let’s face it the English are not known for being anything but conservative. Can you imagine changing a captain mid-tour? Different form of the game may call for it but it would be interesting for a selector to say that Freddie is the best man to captain the Test team but only third best for the One-Dayers.
