Best place to start would be Bell’s runout - along with Harmison’s first ball of the series, it’s an event that defines England’s summer of woeful performances.

Funnily enough the game started quite well with an English player in Loye taking on the Australian bowlers - his slog sweep of a 150km/h ball from Lee was remarkable.

However once again, all good work was undone by 30 minutes of calamitous cricket.

dear glamorous-organ, it’s Gilly that walks, not mr Cricket. After all it took him 30 years and over 10,000 1st class runs to get his position, he’s not going to give it up for a mere technicality. He’s been brought up in the school of “the umpire is always right”, even wnen he’s wrong. At least you can say for Hussey that when he’s given out incorrectly, he never argues or casts black looks, he just does what is he told. ( i haven’t seen to many Poms walk voluntarily, either)

In some ways, this loss was better than the win over New Zealand. We actually made Australia do a bit of work!

Monty wouldn’t have got a bowl anyway. Just as well as Fred hasn’t got a clue how to set a field for him anyway.

This summer of Aussie cricket needs something.Perhaps the Aussies could be tested with a merge of the Poms & Kiwis.Surely a combined X1 would give them a run 4 their money.
