Much better day; as a spectator that is.
Seated on the bottom tier in the new stand, directly opposite the wicket at Southern Stand End, it was a perfect setting for the most powerful batting I’ve witnessed. After a slow morning session, Hayden and Symonds muscled, stroked, crashed even delicately glances their way to well deserved three figures. The slog over deep mid-off was the highlight of the day for me - I even managed to get the shot, and subsquent celebrations on video (hopefully…).
I took quite a few photos, but I unfortunately deleted my pan video of the crowd, whilst the Barmy Army were at their loudest.

Yes an interesting day indeed - apart from the odd four hours when Hayden and Symonds mauling us the English bowling looked mean and lean. Umpire Koertzen will not be on my Christmas card list next year (are you reading this Rudi?)! The pitch will certainly play easier tomorrow than it did yesterday - I hope our beleaguered batsmen can take advantage and select their shots better. A total of 500 and eventual victory is not unthinkable - is it?
As an aside - dont the Barmy Army realise that the English football season is in full swing? A full scale punch up is on the cards if they dont moderate it a bit.

Scott - I would’ve downloaded them immediately, except I have the slight problem of losing the AV output cable. I’ll endevour to try and find it before I knock off though.

I’ve got a fairly poor camera, so these pictures are on full optical zoom, plus digitally zoomed in further to actually see the players. I’ve also found on second viewing, alot aren’t clear as I thought they would be. I can upload them if you want, but they aren’t much. Anyway, just a few select ones…

Wraye - re the field placings
I’ve just seen the highlights (I’d gone to bed by the time you posted) and we let them off the hook. Should have attacked more and made them hit over the top. Instead they went defensive and allowed them to push into gaps.
I’m not clear that Fred has quite grasped the vastness of the G but of course he didn’t have the runs to play with.
As an aside, am I the only one who has noticed a hell of a lot of balls going aerial in the slip/gully region throughout the whole series. I’m sure these were getting caught in 2005. It seems rather too many to seem “just bad luck”, can any Aussies shed some light on it? I’m thinking bouncier pitches, bigger outfields.
