Ponting is the key to todays play.

The third day from Adelaide. England are in a terrific position, but the pitch remains flat and they only have the one spinner. No pressure, Ashley Giles…or Steve Harmison for that matter. It’s up to those two to produce something special.

Hoggard gets Hayden out early. But I still think Harmison’s the key.

Well he’s made a good start, Tim

England are playing some very good cricket at the moment. Well bowled Hoggard.

YAY - Hoggy and Harmy going at it again. It’s a sight to warm your heart on this cold summer’s day in Perth (33 c by 0900). Michael who? Hoggy is now officially my hero! If only someone could get that Dick guy out -ooooh, Harmy’s having a go as we speak.
On a lighter note, every time my husband sits down to check the score we get another wicket! I am trying very hard to entice him to sit down again, but alas, he’s an Aussie supporter . . .

England looks to be well on top at the moment, and Australia’s struggling. If England can keep this up all day, then Australia looks gone. We’ve all been saying that this could be the Edgbaston Test of 2005 repeated, though I would be surprised if the end result is as close on this occasion.

Oh dear. GiLo has dropped Ponting. How expensive is that going to be?

Like the line Hoggy is bowling to Hussey though. Harmy take note.

These 2 have to be the best candidates to score a big 100.

Think you’re right, Chris. Like the hint of reverse from Jimmy A just then.

Morning all, just slept off a wine tasting-evening. Must admit, there was a chianti classico and a SA sauvignon blanc amongst others well worth tasting.
We’ll be ok if we can get rid of Ponting.

100 for Ponting. Yay Punter!
I’m a bit worried about what happens after this partnership though.

Another brilliant partnership between Ponting and Hussey in the making.

just got home from work and i am just hoping this patnership doesn’t break any time soon otherwise australia could be in a bit of trouble but my punt is for the test to end in a draw as the wicket is disgraceful and it is quite boring to watch to be honest

I was thinking this yesterday — if the Aussie bowlers couldn’t bowl England out, would the England bowlers have much more luck?
Meantime I’ve been teaching my children Barmy Army chants…

Ponting played well. He is in teh form of his life. Just amazing consistency from him and MoYo. England need to bowl Aussies out before lunch tommorow otherwise it looks like a draw.
I dont understand why they keep playing Giles. His 20 runs are useless if he is not gonna take wickets. When is the last time he took 5 wickets in a test match innings?
