anybody know where i can get live streaming of the ashes
Live: Australia v England, 1st Test, Brisbane
By Will 2 years ago, at the end of November Leave a comment on this post
At last, here we go! I’m opening this up early, as you’ll all no doubt be cowering under your duvets or getting suitably aled-up in the pub. And I need some sleep before midnight. Well, wherever you might be, I hope we’re in for a great match and another terrific series. So stick the radio on, make yourself a brew and leave a comment or two below.
We’re on ball-by-ball at Cricinfo and will have a mass of coverage: bulletin, Australian verdict, English verdict as well as further comments from all and sundry, so pop over for our coverage too.

If you’re in the UK, there’s live radio commentary on bbc.co.uk (and some video highlights throughout the game)

i have lectures all day tomorrow…. somethings got to give! Anatomy or Ashes????
November 22nd, 2006 at 8.36 pm
My lecturers have very inconsiderately scheduled two exams for friday, and unfortunately those two tests will have to take precedence over the First Test - no all-nighters for me till Friday night. I’m determined to get the first session in though.
November 22nd, 2006 at 8.38 pm
Currently 20C here in Brisbane 2.5 hours before the first ball is bowled with a sunny day forecast and a maximum of about 30C.
Me thinks it will be somewhat hotter in the middle of the Gabba ![]()
November 22nd, 2006 at 9.22 pm
I have had an early Christmas present. Jacqui has bought me a Sky Sports subscription for the Ashes.
Better than sex!
November 22nd, 2006 at 9.26 pm
So is it Giles or Monty ?
November 22nd, 2006 at 9.34 pm
Duncan’s almost certainly going to go for GiLo.
November 22nd, 2006 at 10.06 pm
Gidday all - huge day. The shoes on the other foot now Will. I’m at work, you’re drinking coffee to stay awake
Anyway, I heard an interview with the curator on the radio this morning - says there will be a lot of life early, but also hot weather on the way. Wouldn’t want to bat last! So, expect a good start for the bowling side but this could be decided on day 4 or 5.
November 22nd, 2006 at 10.17 pm
Gidday all - the shoes on the other foot now Will. I’m at work, you’re drinking coffee trying to stay awake right?
I heard an interview with curator of the GABBA this morning. He says it will be fiery early, but plenty of high temparatures over the next few days will make batting last hard. Great way to start. I think the bowling side will get off to a good start, but this match will be decided on day four or five.
November 22nd, 2006 at 10.25 pm
Wow although whoever wins the toss will bat, there seems a chance that if a teams bowls well on this first day a team could get skittled. Perhaps not a bad toss to lose, but still i hope that we bat first and tomorrow morning we are 300-5.
November 22nd, 2006 at 10.45 pm
Sorry about the double post there - it wasn’t showing up so I typed it again and now look ![]()

Morning all!
(Thats right! I can say say morning everyday this time round!
)
Best news is, i only got one more day of school left for the year, and i got today off school, soo i will only miss one day of Cricket on tv!
(will have to use the radio tommorow)
How is the coffee going down Will? You might need to try some Red Bull and soem of thoose other energy drinks. Ill just give you a few tips i used to stay awake last year:
1) Make sure you keep the lights on in the room your watching in. As soon as you turn the lights out ang create that dark sleepy atmosphere most will nod off in a matter of minutes.
2) Always get up and go for a walk, get a drink or somthing to eat around every hour at the most. Time it with the drinks breaks. There is more chance of fulling asleep if your sitting in the same position for hours and hours.
3) DONT LIE DOWN! Avoid TV’s near Beds. Biggest mistake i made last year was thinking i could lie down for a bit durring Lunch or Tea. If your going to watch the tv near your bed, make sure your sitting bolt upright in your bed and avoid the temptation to lie down.
4) Have the Laptop at the ready so you can keep commenting ont his great Blog!
Have a good night lads! ![]()

Giles will play, not Panesar…fucking hell
November 22nd, 2006 at 11.09 pm
Kia orana from the Cook Islands!
Great blog-been checking it out for ages but have’nt joined in the fray. However given the momentous day-today’s as good a day as any. There’s even Ashes madness here in the Cook’s in the South Pacific and we are NZ citizens. We are 4 hours ahead of Brisbane, so will catch most of the game after work. Sadly today I have a teleconference with our office in Hong Kong at 5.15pm. Not sure the Chinese would understand if I told them to can it whilst I go down to the local bar to catch the opening stanza’s of the match and drown a few cold one’s with the boys. Have to listen to the opening overs on Radio Austraila-sadly no TMS down here. The Aussie commentators aren’t a patch on the TMS crew.
The consensus around here is “Go the Poms!”
November 22nd, 2006 at 11.10 pm
Giles playing. No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!

No Panesar in the team? - a bit of a defensive step by our Duncan. We’ll need McGrath to fall over a ball again.
November 22nd, 2006 at 11.12 pm
Cheers Elliot, I think it going to work.
November 22nd, 2006 at 11.15 pm
Thats allright chris. What country you in, out of interest?
Only 45 minutes to go!
November 22nd, 2006 at 11.16 pm
I thought Fletcher would play GiLo but hoped he would go for the Montster.
Damn’
Might go to bed now.

Clark in, Johnson 12th man.
November 22nd, 2006 at 11.18 pm
I am Spain, and my radio link has just stopped working. Oh shit
November 22nd, 2006 at 11.18 pm
now there’s not Monty i’m not sure i can be bothered to watch any more…
grr
November 22nd, 2006 at 11.21 pm
Hardly unexpected though.
Not to say that it doesn’t frustrated me - Gilo hasn’t played any cricket! He’s certainly not the better bowler. I think the combination of being able to hold a bat and having an MBE have made him a sure starter in Duncan’s eyes.
Right - now I’m off to get my radio tuned!
November 22nd, 2006 at 11.21 pm
Streaming is on http://www.willow.tv.
Note - give them an email address that is not your regular, I am getting a load of spam on the one I used earlier in the Year.
November 22nd, 2006 at 11.26 pm
damn lectures. hopefully it’ll be good news in the morning….
November 22nd, 2006 at 11.28 pm
While we wait for the toss, some advice for Freddie:
“If you win the toss, bat; if you’re not sure, think about it and then bat; if you’re still not sure, ask for advice (just not from Nasser) - and then bat.â€
November 22nd, 2006 at 11.31 pm
Its 6:30pm in the NY suburbs on Thanksgiving eve. Got out of work early - and while the traffic was horrendous, and the weather was worse (freezing rain), but my Directv is crystal clear. Dinner was the delicious chili dogs and beer!
Wondering if we in the USA will get the Sky coverage, or the Channel 9?
Sad that Monty is not playing… happy for Jimmy Anderson making a deserved return… hoping Ian Bell can come through the challenges.
Anyone in NY… we will all be at Eight Mile Creek (Mulberry St) on Friday night!

November 22nd, 2006 at 11.32 pm
There are good reasons for picking Giles (not that I would), but why oh why does Fletcher insist on thinking that a handful of extra runs at 8 matters in Test cricket? You have to bowl a side out twice. If we need runs at 8, we should be picking new batsmen…
November 22nd, 2006 at 11.32 pm
The clock has hit 10:30………
The coin would be in the Air…….
(Im sitting here refreshin cricinfo every 5 seconds)
But its on TV LIVE
WE WON!!!!!
WE BATTING!!!
November 22nd, 2006 at 11.39 pm
Good work by Sky to cock up the toss announcement.
November 22nd, 2006 at 11.40 pm
Nine minutes, and Geoff Boycott has already mentioned his famous Mum!
November 22nd, 2006 at 11.41 pm
who have sky got commentating? just out of interest…
November 22nd, 2006 at 11.41 pm
So, we lost the toss and are batting. It’s 11.30, TMS has just started, so I’m off to bed with my radio.
November 22nd, 2006 at 11.53 pm
National anthems, flag raising, bloody hell, is this cricket or football?
November 22nd, 2006 at 11.57 pm
Im off to the lounge room and the Big Wide Screen TV that is waiting for me!
Ill be back later!
November 23rd, 2006 at 12.04 am
Crikey. When they said ‘it went straight to second slip’, I didn’t realise they directly from the bowler!
Great start Harmy ![]()
November 23rd, 2006 at 12.05 am
Gah. Meant, obviously.
November 23rd, 2006 at 12.07 am
Anyone else think Steve Bucknor has got a bit of a podge on him all of a sudden?
November 23rd, 2006 at 12.17 am
What news on a streaming site to listen to the Ashes, I have just found out that TMS is only available in the UK - for the first time ever I think - I hope that the BBC realises the problems it has vreated for all us ex-pat poms!
November 23rd, 2006 at 12.17 am
Why do we have to put up with this idiot Blofeld on the commentary?
November 23rd, 2006 at 12.25 am
Austalia’s batting dealing with the pressure far better at this point. England very nervous. Langer professional.
Hayden keen for another 100 at home
November 23rd, 2006 at 12.31 am
TMS has just started working for me for some reason
November 23rd, 2006 at 12.34 am
A number of streaky shots played - England just need to put it in the correct areas as Hoggard has proved (Hayden’s attempted drive, causing half a chance for Bell in gully).
Flintoff also has issues about the ball; I can just make out on the TV that there is a significant scuff mark near the seam on one side of the ball.
November 23rd, 2006 at 12.46 am
Horrid start but starting to steady down a bit. Fortune favours the brave.
November 23rd, 2006 at 12.54 am
Hm, Flintoff on for Hoggard - personally would’ve left him on since he is the only one consistantly placing the ball in the correct area.
Perhaps Hoggard will replace Anderson at the other end though; flipping over the bowlers to try something different.
November 23rd, 2006 at 1.23 am
Geoffrey is already saying in my day I worked for everything I got, we neve had 14 back room staff, what are they playing at etc etc. “I don’t take pleasure in saying this etc etc” Think best go to bed and wake up with the score 270/8.
November 23rd, 2006 at 1.27 am
Hi all.
Anyone else watching the stream on http://www.cricketontv.com?
I lot the stream at 1:15am GMT. I have e-mailed their support but I guarantee they will write back saying the problem is mine. I want some back up from others with the same problem.
Cheers,
Malcolm

Giles warming up - wouldn’t have wanted that, before lunch on the first day!!
November 23rd, 2006 at 1.57 am
Nope - it’s Hoggard, but 10 from the over maybe it should’ve been Giles.
November 23rd, 2006 at 1.59 am
Okay, so one over before lunch for the “wheely-bin” - you’d expect that…
November 23rd, 2006 at 2.00 am
I reckon Gilo will start with the one that goes straight on! ![]()
November 23rd, 2006 at 2.07 am
That’s King of Spain to you, Stu!
November 23rd, 2006 at 2.22 am
Test
November 23rd, 2006 at 2.24 am
Session Count:
Australia: 1
England: 0
First Blood to Australia.
I wonder how Phil Jacques feels about the first session, good on ya Justin Langer.
I was that nervous in the first few overs when JL was edging through gully. I swear i missed a few beats. But he fought through it and he has set himself up for a BIG score!
November 23rd, 2006 at 2.25 am
Okay, Australia did well there in the first session, cashed in on English nerves and 1 for 109 in 25 overs is a good start to the series. Mind you this pitch is a belter, and 400 (at least) is par. Anything below that and England will have done well.
Justin Langer’s return to form though is great to see!
November 23rd, 2006 at 2.37 am
5-0
November 23rd, 2006 at 5.34 am
Now Bell is bowling - first day of the first test - Ponting 90, things looking ordinary for England. Will need a special FLintoff finish to this day to lift them.
November 23rd, 2006 at 6.16 am
Ponting’s 9th century in his last 22 innings - or 10 in his last 15 tests.
November 23rd, 2006 at 6.17 am
Just woke up. Sounds like I missed a great ton from Ponting. Is Harmy still bowling like a drain?
November 23rd, 2006 at 6.21 am
i am an ozzie working in a small village in tanzania , africa, with hiv patients.
and i have been looking forward to listening to the ashes on the net, but alas due to big business i cannot get abc radio or bbc radio coverage and i am guttered.
i was in uk last year and saw all the awesome cricket that summer provided, and now i am reduced to despair.
if there is anyone who knows of a web site or a way to listen live , i would be most grateful.
i hope this series lives to the last one as it was great for the game.

November 23rd, 2006 at 6.27 am
Woohoo KP’s getting more turn than Gilo
November 23rd, 2006 at 6.47 am
Bad start for England. Lots of choices to question, but one wonders whether bowling Monty or having Strauss as Captain would have made any difference. Maybe Gilo was a good choice because now England will need to bat for a draw.
BTW, BBC is blocked here in France, but I got the Australian internet broadcast here:

Morning all. Not a great start for England there. But hang in there guys, the wickets have to come some time…. don’t they??

November 23rd, 2006 at 8.03 am
harmison needs to be shot. that was an utter disgrace.
November 23rd, 2006 at 8.05 am
Forget all the criticism of Giles, who performed pretty well — it’s Harmison who needs a boot up the arse. This is not the four horsemen of the apocalypse of 2005. Mind you, England did get trashed in the first test last year. Bowl two spinners, I say.
Best quote of the day (from the Guardian OBO) was this:
“You Poms are totally predictable,” scoffs John Wilson. “You get off to a bad start and start slagging off the coach, you make the wrong bloke captain and put him on a pedestal so high all he can do is fall off - you did it to Beefy a generation ago - but stifling success is a tradition with you blokes. It is a great pity, because half the world want you to stuff these arrogant Bazzas back up their Grabbagoolies.”
I think his last sentence means that most people want to see Australia lose again.
Unfortunately, here in NZ we are getting the Aussie channel 9 coverage, dominated by the appallingly jingoistic Bill Lawry. He’s so awful, that I think I’ll have the sound off tomorrow. Or try to feed in TMS from somewhere.
November 23rd, 2006 at 8.05 am
Day one and England out of the game-although its a very flat track. Harmison and Anderson AWOL (does he really play first class cricket in England??). Bell and KP bowling on the first day and worst of all KP getting bounce and turn -(Warne must be wetting himself). Its going to be a long 4 days for the Poms to save the test……Still great effort from the Captain. For the sake of the series I hope for a fight-back on Friday. Great to hear our friend in Tanzania is online.
Cheers!!
November 23rd, 2006 at 9.33 am
the idea before the game that it won’t be a turner, so lets go for the bowler that doesn’t turn it, but can bat a bit is now looking even more foolish.
as it was, you’d never drop muralitharan just because you don’t think it’ll turn much would you? and particularly not for a lesser spin bowler who can bat slightly better.
November 23rd, 2006 at 10.07 am
I knew sleeping through it was the right decision.
I knew it was bad when I asked one of my housemates if Mark, our fellow cricket-mad housemate, was still up when she went down at 6am, and she said, “No, it’s all dark and quiet down there.”
I knew it was bad when my friend didn’t text back with the night’s results straight away.
But I didn’t know HOW bad. 346/*3*? Jesus Christ on a pogo stick, people, was ANYONE aside from Freddie bothering to bowl? Reading these comments, my jaw dropped. BELL bowled? KP?? IF YOU’RE GOING TO BOWL KP, DUNCAN YOU DUNCE, WOULDN’T IT HAVE BEEN USEFUL TO HAVE MONTY THERE, PER CHANCE? And wouldn’t this wicket suit Mahmood? Mind you, he’d have to be MUCH more consistent. But then again…
Well, looks like the old Aussie joke is ringing too true for comfort:
“What do you call an England cricketer with 100 on the scoreboard?
A bowler.”
On my blog, I made a prediction about Ponting getting 157. Well, cross my palm with silver and ask me about your futures…
unless he makes a double century.
And let’s hope Harmy isn’t about to go the way of Trescothick. I have an uneasy hunch that may be the case.
But the beauty of test matches is that they can turn on a 5p piece. Day 2, here we come…
November 23rd, 2006 at 10.52 am
Early days, lads, early days.
/ I hope
November 23rd, 2006 at 12.50 pm
Early day my Pomgolian friends. Your lot were piss-poor today (bar Flintoff), but there are still four more days and four more tests to go. Warnie’ll have trouble sleeping tonight, if Jaapie Pietersen can turn it. Whilst it is still very early, it’ll be interesting to see how Harmless pulls up after today - he’d be feeling bloody homesick about now, wouldn’t he? Make or break time for him tomorrow. Nice first ball that - probably caught Flintoff by surprise more than anyone else out there!
My fear is that if you lot get flogged in Brissie, you’ll go back to your old-fashioned tactic of playing for a draw from the get-go. Boring as buggery for starters - and I know you could say it’s in your interest to do so - but at least try to win the series.
Kathy: are you aware that 9 telecast with a one second delay, that completely buggers up trying to use the radio commentary? (Otherwise, we all would!)
November 23rd, 2006 at 2.09 pm
Oh God. Oh God. I feel weary about it all already. Have just rewatched highlights of 2005 and it is like looking at different players. Got this terrible pang looking at Simon Jones and wondering what could have been if we had him and not Incapability Anderson. If I feel like that imagine how he feels.
As for Harmison, for once I have to agree with Boycott. His technique has gone and with it his confidence. Think Cooley leaving has hit him hard and someone needs to take him in hand. If he could start getting some deliveries on target I think his confidence would come back pretty quickly. What are the 14 backroom staff for if no one can sort him out? Oh well lets hope first day nerves will have gone by tonight.
November 23rd, 2006 at 5.58 pm
Clare,
Incapability Anderson? Unbelievable. Totally unjustified. He’s a world class bowler. Jones would’ve been a great asset - but anderson is a worthy replacement. Have faith.
On the same strip in a pura cup game a few months ago between Queensland and New South Wales, the teams scored 400 each, with the loss of few wickets - match drawn. If we bat sensibly we can save this game. Ponting one of the best players to have played the game - had a v.good day.
Day 1/25 has just gone. 4% of the series. There’s another 96% to go. I suggest you dont give up just yet.
November 23rd, 2006 at 6.01 pm
Well, that was fun, wasn’t it? It’s going to be a long, long winter.
November 23rd, 2006 at 6.08 pm
Does anyone know how I can listen to the ACB radio commentary?…..apparently its only available to oz residents. Theres a guy there called Kerry O’keefe who was hilarious on TMS a few years ago. Hes a bit of a cult hero nowadays by all accounts.
November 23rd, 2006 at 6.10 pm
Here Here Ernold.
November 23rd, 2006 at 6.32 pm
Kerry O’Keefe is still on the radio and he’s scaring the crap out of Aggers….
November 23rd, 2006 at 7.04 pm
No, SLips, I didn’t know that but will still give it a go because I don’t think I can bear Bill Lawry another day.
November 23rd, 2006 at 8.35 pm
Is Bill Lawry the commentator parodied in 12th Man (piss off yer out)?
November 23rd, 2006 at 9.29 pm
Bill’s so bad he’s funny - Victoria’s Ambassador to Australia!
November 23rd, 2006 at 9.30 pm
Sorry Sean - yeah, the guy that loves the pigeons, and gets the piss taken out of him constantly for the enormous nose.
November 23rd, 2006 at 9.59 pm
Bill is an utter legend at Cricinfo
November 23rd, 2006 at 10.24 pm
Well, he’s an utter legend full stop. Some people just don’t get how to follow the man. The trick is to sort of unconsciously screen out everything he says when he starts on about the glory that is Victoria!
November 24th, 2006 at 7.29 am
You can listen in Australia online via http://www2b.abc.net.au/grandstand/streaming/cricket_stream.htm however outside Australia it will direct you to Cricket Australia.
The crowd cheered Andersons ton this morning, Australia declares at 9 for 600 and has the English at 3 for 53
November 24th, 2006 at 11.23 am
Ernold
Still feeling the same about it now? There is a worrying lack of confidence about the team with the golden exception of Fred and I am reserving judgement on KP till we see what he can do. If it was only the bowling that was the problem we would have a chance of a fightback but this morning’s display of batting only makes it worse. Australia have played terrifically well but we have let them. There is so much more of a feeling of 2002 about this rather than 2005 and missing Vaughan, Trescothick and Jones is really beginning to tell. You say that Anderson is world class but I don’t feel I have seen that yet. I’m not criticising his talent but he doesn’t have much experience and an Ashes series is a very steep learning curve. I feel bad for them, its very hard to be under this scrutiny when confidence is low and hard to know what can be done to stop the slide. I haven’t lost confidence completely (I am the optimist who kept faith with Ramprakash for years!) but I do feel it will be very hard to pull round from this.
November 26th, 2006 at 2.09 am
Thanks for the info Alan.
England must be playing a waiting game. I saw several of the team in Heathrow a couple of weeks ago. They did not look like a group of happy campers then.
November 27th, 2006 at 11.40 am
Please radio 5, get rid of Geoffrey Goycott .
He is becoming a big embarressment to English Cricket —he is self opinionated, arrogant and at every opportunity–crows about how he would have sorted out the aussie bowlers and every ball he hit would have been a four (at Least) .Geoffrey how many tours did you duck out of ?,when the likes of Lillee and Thompson , Holding and daniel were around? compared with the likes of Richards ,the chappels, the waughs ,tendulkar , Lara and many more too numerous to mention —you were well down the list so give it a rest. I bet they cant wait to get out of that commentary box when they hear you approaching —–my finger certainly makes a dart for the mute button on the remote
