Get in the mood for the first Test

By Will 2 years ago, mid-November Leave a comment on this post

What better way (for an Englishman at least) to get in the mood for Wednesday night than to listen to the BBC cricket theme tune, Booker T and the MG’s Soul Limbo. Listen, loop, and enjoy.

I’m just starting to get really nervous.

About to decorate the TV with red and white flags.

But really want to do a Trescothick — cut and run for the hills. And I’m only a fan.

It’s getting difficult to concentrate now.

My flight leaves (from Hong Kong home) to Brisbane in 30 hours time. I am loading up the TMS and Telegraph podcasts on my iPod, finding my copy of Jardine’s Battle For The Ashes to take with me out of respect, and Will - I even have your Cricketer ‘travel guide to the Ashes’ you sent me a few months.

    It’s like Christmas Eve.

I hope the BBC use Soul Limbo as the theme tune to the highlights. Anyone see the preview show? I saw what I think may have been an abridged version on Sun. Not sure about the football focus presenter, doesn’t sem to know a lot and I keep expecting Lawro to start bleeting on at him.

Thanks for adding the mp3, Will. It’s now saved as my ringtone.

Just need someone to call me now…

I also love the Bob Marley “Sun is shining” remix used by Sky for their coverage of the West Indies test matches.

On a cold November day, it’ll warm you right up. More info at the Maddogs website.

I’m getting excited - only a couple of days to go, and now I’m listening to the BBC theme tune. Sad really. Won’t get much sleep once the commentaries start.

[...] As a side line, I changed the ring tone on my mobile phone at the start of the Ashes to Soul Limbo thanks to Will over at The Corridor. I’ve just changed it to something equally suitable - Back in Black by AC/DC. [...]
