    I find it kind of funny, too, because you have to have a pretty big ego to think that you can safely face a fast bowler without a helmet. No leg guards, either. That, and the fact that he apparently wasn’t hospitalized, makes me wonder what kind of ball was being bowled. But the reporter did go to the effort of putting on batting gloves.

    probably a soft tennis type ball..

    Real balls aren’t used that much in indoor training - at least not here. It probably was a rubber ball, maybe an Incredi-ball. They have all the qualities of a new ball, including a seam, they nip around like buggery, you can use them again and again, plus of course, you can wash the blood off …
