At last England have been put out of their misery, and today’s match is pleasingly meaningless. Therefore, they’ll probably win. If you’re watching, leave a comment.

It would be pretty impressive if they could bat their way out of the mess their bowlers made today (apart from Lewis, whose stats look good - and not to detract from Gayle and Bravo, either). It looks possible at this stage. It could give England a bit of momentum knowing that they can bat well and bowl well, even if they haven’t done both in the same match.

I’ve been unable to even listen to any of the matches because of international broadcast rights issues, but it seems like this tournament has had some pretty good matches, like the Windy-India match and Ntini’s amazing skittling of Pakistan. If England could pull out this match it might be the best of the lot, and it would be meaningful, even if it doesn’t affect the tournament results. This was supposed to be a meaningless tournament, anyway - just a warm-up for the Ashes and the World Cup.

You’re right about Lewis. He should have been playing from the off. I’d also liked to have seen Monty play too. Say, replacing Yardy and Dalrymple with Monty and Cook. You’d have one decent batsman and one decent bowler, instead of two half-baked ‘all-rounders’.

Right one there, Ollie, I would have liked to have “seen” Cook and Monty get more match experience, but never mind. We still went out with an honourable win. Like a twit, have been following the match on cricinfo, who 2 minutes ago had England still chasing, while we won by 3 wickets ages ago according to Aunty Beeb. Well done KP!

I have mixed feelings about Yardy and Dalrymple vs. Cook and Monty. It’s nice to have enough depth that you can have some test specialists and ODI specialists. Cook is a good test batsman, but maybe he doesn’t score that quickly. I’m okay with him as England’s Justin Langer equivalent. With Monty, I guess the concern is fielding.

What I’m wondering is whether the wicket-keeper controversy is back on now. Read didn’t do much for his cause today.

I’m not sure that Read’s ODI performance should affect his chances for the test side… yeah he didn’t do himself any favours but I don’t think it is enough to be dropped…
