Cricket in heaven?
By Will 2 years ago, mid-October Leave a comment on this post
Back in London. Who says train travel is crap? Only took two hours - and on the train I read this:
Bob and Vic are passionate cricket-lovers. They go to games together, pore over old copies of Wisden and on chilly winter evenings they sit in the pub remembering great Test matches. They decide that whoever dies first will try to come back and tell the other if there if cricket in heaven.
One summer night, Bob passes away in his sleep after watching England beat Australia at Lord’s. He dies happy.
A few nights later, Vic wakes up, certain that he can hear Bob calling to him from the other side. “Is that you, Bob?” he asks.
“Yes Vic, it’s me,” says Bob.
“This is unbelievable!” exclaims Vic. “So, Bob, is it true? Is there cricket in heaven?”
“Well I have good news and bad news,” says Bob. “The good news is there is cricket in heaven.”
“Brilliant! That’s great!” says Vic. “What could possibly be the bad news?”
“You’re opening the batting tomorrow.”
