    Competition from the BBC

By Will 2 years ago, mid-August Leave a comment on this post

Well, I suppose it was inevitable. TMS have finally broken into the 21st century with their first blog. Doubt they even read this one but, whatever…well done them. Let’s see if they can keep it regularly updated though.

I was being churlish when I wrote the title, of course. You can’t compete with eachother on blogs; they are personal and characterised by the writers. Some people will like them, and your style, and some won’t. BBC have one rather large thing in their favour in that a) they have a bit more money than me and b) employ half the western hemisphere. Anyway, rock on. If any of the BBC chaps are reading, drop me a note - I’d be interested to talk.

If you must leave here, to go there, then click here (if that makes sense).

You keep blogging and don’t think regarding the pretenders. :D

Nice of you to be humble and all that, Will, but I’m not sure you really appreciate what you have done here by providing us all with a perfectly unique and neutral forum without the yahaa-boo sort of team-specific fanatacism. I’m sure other readers know exactly what I am on about.

All of us Internet commentators turn to cricinfo, the Grauniad OBO, TMS, the Times etc. Caught you Zainub, on the OBO! Even, God help us, the Barmy Army website. I love them all and I admit, I check out what they are writing.

As a passionate cricket follower from overseas I have tuned into these blogs before and always come back to the Corridor. Why? Because the others are rather senseless. Comments like “yahh, suck on that Straussie!” are somewhat less than Neanderthal. Never mind comments like “yoh Monty - ee gonna stick yah!”

Meanwhile here, I have found friends I may never meet. Elliot and Jess, Caroline and Ajay. Scott, bless him. Wonderful people to many to mention.

So call me a sucker, call me romantic or a piss-artist or whatever. Still I don’t think the big concerns can estabish a blog to match the Corridor.

I don’t think anyone needs to worry about competition from the BBC while they are showing us, in the sports news at the start of August, highlights from a Man U pre-season warm up game, instead of giving us some cricket news.
