Steve Harmison feels strongly about suggestions that he came out of one-day retirement in order to play the Stanford Twenty20 for 20

England v Pakistan, 2nd Test, Old Trafford

By Will 2 years ago, at the end of July Leave a comment on this post

Another Test, another foray into the land of the unexpected. Interesting times; Younis Khan returns for Pakistan, and Andrew Strauss leads an England side further depleted by injury. I’m very curious about Duncan Fletcher’s decision to omit Jamie Dalrymple which, to me at least, rather suggests he eyes Monty Panesar as a key weapon to dismantle Pakistan’s batting lineup. Either that or Dalrymple called him a rude name behind his back.

Anyway, do hope you’ll all be tuning in and leaving comments and generally making an absolute nuisance of yourselves here.

One thing I can’t understand - why is Mahmood rated ahead of Tremlett, who has all the attributes to thrive in Australia and is also much more proven at first-class level?

Here we go, here we go etc etc. By the way Will, you wrote a nice piece on Broad on cricinfo. Good one. Amongst my many failings, have been a die-hard Leicestershire fan for 30 years. sad, isn’t it? Excellent training for being an England fan though. ;)

Yes well it Aint looking good for Pakistan! 8-113, 10 overs into 2nd session!
I have been kinda half watching and half doing other stuff, but from what i have seen England have bowled pretty well, getting up into the rib cages, using the bouncing pitch.
I will prolly be asleep soon. Its 11:20 down here! :O

Excellent performance from England, particularly Harmison and Panesar. Harmy was fantastic (I in fact just blogged about his 6-for here - http://sbenegal.blogspot.com/2006/07/gbh-grievous-bodily-harmison.html ), and I was very impressed by Panesar at well. He started the collapse by removing Yousuf at a crucial moment, and after that looked excellent, showing great control from over the wicket. He definitely needs to be used a lot more as an wicket-taking bowler in the future, because he showed here that he can do it.

Hi Jess! Great to hear from you again! Are you working with one of these dumb firms with limited Internet access? Otherwise check out the national papers etc. Aw so sad, we had a brilliant day in the field with bat and ball. GBH was stupendous and you missed out. So sorry for you :(

    Can you log in tomorrow?

Hi Wraye! No, we have internet access, but I also have my back to the rest of the office so everyone can see what I’m doing. So no spending the day surfing the net for me. Desktop scorecard is about the best I can do :(
