Anyone nicknamed ‘The Himbo’ by his own team, as he is a male version of a Bimbo, should definitely play for England. About time we had some more cricketing sex scandals on the front pages of the tabloids.
Benning for England

Despite twisting his knee while fielding against Kent yesterday, James Benning again proved what a maverick opener he is - the new Ally Brown? - in smashing 71 from 51 balls. Kent were admittedly woefully wide with the new ball, but Benning times the ball so well and has the ability to play unorthodox shots from the off. The chant, after Surrey had completed their win, of “Benning for England” from the Surrey faithful doesn’t seem too fanciful. This guy can play; he and Trescothick opening, Strauss at No.3 and Kevin Pietersen at No.4 would make for an explosive first half of the innings, with Andrew Flintoff and Chris Read in the lower-order.
Just my thoughts.

Not seen too much of Benning, so can’t really comment there.
But I’d disagree with your placement of Strauss at 3. If Benning/Trescothick is a future ODI combination, then I’d advocate Pietersen going in at 3. He and Tres are England’s best ODI batsmen and most dangerous - so IMO, should be the guys who get the maximum time at the crease.
Strauss? I’d personally put him at 5 or thereabouts. He’s got a fantastic brain; very cool head and I get the feeling that rather than going up the order, he could be very dangerous in a finishing role later on when controlling run chases and anchoring the later stages of the innings, to support the bigger hitters like Flintoff. Tres/Benning(?)/KPP/Collingwood/Strauss/Flintoff/Dalrymple/Read certainly would be a fine lineup to go into ODIs with.
