  • I think those speed guns are a load of crap. Somehow the white ball goes faster - I bowled 83-84mph in the Test match, and 93mph in the one-dayers. It's crazy. I hadn't bowled a ball for ten days.

    Yesterday’s depressing news just got worse. He’s to undergo surgery, will be out for 12 weeks and that puts his chances of making the tour to Australia in serious doubt.

    Actually, barring even more injuries, at least the current squad know where they are for the rest of the summer. Just a scarily vulnerable bowling attack.

    If Strauss has to captain in Australia, they can have the psychological advantage of being such severe underdogs that no-one will expect anything. And then they can play out of their skins…
