Steve Harmison feels strongly about suggestions that he came out of one-day retirement in order to play the Stanford Twenty20 for 20

Final day from Lord’s. Unless Steve Harmison and Matthew Hoggard can produce something extraordinary, this is heading towards a draw. Chat away, though.

well, the Hoggster made a start. Let’s hope he can repeat his heroics from South Africa. Just to amuse you all, Blowers on TMS is getting carried away and calling a certain bowler “Monty Python” again. :)

england really just need 2 wickets… moyo and inzi and the rest will crumble faster than a vampire at dawn…

KP bowled surprisingly well, I thought. Jones is keeping well, but surely, Strauss must regret declaring so late this morning. We are never going to get past Inzy now.

a very good chance missed by England to go one up in the series.

    Ultra-defensive tactics were to blame.

Imagine declaring yesterday , leaving Pakistan an awkward hour and Hoggard then taking a wicket first ball - the pressure would have been immense on the batsmen leaving England in total charge.

    Oh well, next time.

Strauss probably didn’t want to make a dick of himself by making a 50-50 declaration and then loosing his first test as captain!

Its been hard following the match down here as its on so late and i got school etc. The worst thing was on Sunday night whene the cricket was on one channel, the forumla1 on antoher channel, and then the Tour De France on another channle! :( All at the same time! :( But i managed!

Yeah, I think Elliott is right. Strauss had just come off captaining through five one-day losses and what he was desperately trying to avoid was a loss. In a different context he might have been more aggresssive.

possibly, but when you are playing at home, these advantages have to be taken.

can’t imagine the aussies letting anybody off the hook like that.

a quick poser - do we reckon it was Strauss who made the decision or Fletcher?
