England v Pakistan, 1st Test, 2nd day, Lord’s

Fascinating first day, and honours went to England. What about the second? Will England build on their lead, or can Pakistan strike back in the morning? Chat away! (Cricinfo live scorecard)

    Good morning everyone…

Always wanted to do that, and now that Richie isn’t about I think it needed doing :-) Anyway, let’s not get carried away after yesterday – I noticed one or two Ashes related comments after just a couple of sessions! England have to forget about that and win the Test Match in front of them. At the moment they’re on top, but we’ll know a lot more after Pakistan’s first innings – I for one am more than a little concerned about the England bowling attack. Sajid Mahmood has potential to replace Simon Jones as a destructive old ball bowler, but he’s totally lost his way recently. Him and Monty will be the keys to an England victory I feel. Just as last summer, England’s bowlers were the key to putting Australia under pressure and ultimately winning the series, the same is true of this series and the one that I dare not name coming up this winter.

i think sajid mahmood should be playing…but who would he replace? i was thinking probably collingwood or bell, but there is no chance collingwood will be dropped now, and Bell is shaping up nicely. He probably would replace Plunkett, but would be a tough choice as plunkett offers more with the bat. still think mahmood should be playing though…

426 – 4 at lunch… going really well, but we can’t settle and take out foot of the gas as we know how good the pakistan batting are with the likes of inzamam and afridi

Good job on the text commentary by the way Will. I thought I recognised your writing style yesterday so I checked, and it was you. Good stuff.
