A year ago, almost to the day, Kevin Pietersen was selected over Graham Thorpe.

12 months on, and his is the most prized English wicket.

In one-dayers perhaps, but in Tests, his wicket’s ONE of the most prized (Strauss and Trescothick are up there with him too). I am not saying that Pietersen’s not good, or didn’t deserve to be in the team last year. But the same held true for the man he replaced. There were, and still are, many batsmen in this team less worthy than Thorpe.
