  • "The fact is that once I was playing again I was automatically available for everything on the schedule and that meant Stanford. I make no apologies for that and, as for the suggestion that I should waive the fee or give it to charity, I don't see why I should be a special case."
Steve Harmison feels strongly about suggestions that he came out of one-day retirement in order to play the Stanford Twenty20 for 20

Flintoff doubtful for first Pakistan Test

By Will 2 years ago, at the end of June Leave a comment on this post

    Worrying news, this:

“There is scar tissue in there and whether the bone fragments were the result of the operation or were already in there, we don’t know,” Flintoff told ABC Sport. “We will have another look in two weeks and see where we are.”

Though unlikely to play the first Test, Flintoff was optimistic about recovery. “I am not running at the moment, I am doing a lot of cycling. I am doing things that don’t cause pain and trying to tick over.

At least we have Jamie Dalrymple! To his credit, Dalrymple’s been the “find” of England’s one-day series. He does the basics well.

No offence to you or Jamie Dalrymple or indeed anyone Will but I doubt there is any player in the world at the moment that could actually “replace” a player of Fred’s calibre… needless to say, if he misses out, that’s going to be a massive blow for England…

And hi..have to say, even with my fascination with football, and great fondness for tennis, there’s nothing I like worst then other sports snatching away the limelight from my most favorited cricket. Can’t wait for the test series to start…

You should have added to “does the basics well”, which is more than can be said for the other hapless members of the ODI side. I really fear a brownwash (if that’s not too un-PC a phrase) in the coming series against Pakistan, in both Test and ODI series. Looking ahead to the Ashes and VB Series just doesn’t bear thinking about… :-(

I think Dalrymple’s a good replacement for Giles. As for replacing Freddie, the only solution is to get in the TARDIS and bring back a healthy Freddie or maybe a young Botham or Len Hutton. :-)
