    Ah thank you so much for sharing that. The match was actually before I became a cricket fan and I had only heard of the drama and chaos in the final over. Now I can say I’ve actually seen it [even if it is in a tiny, low quality screen].

    Everyone remembers Donald’s screw-up at the end. But the highlights also reveal him taking three or four vital wickets and pouching Gilchrist down at third man. Without those contributions SA wouldn’t have been in the contest anyway.
    And Warne’s wickets: Gibbs, Kirsten, Cronje and Kallis. A handy contribution!

    Good memories! I was in Italy at the time and only half following. It was odd being in Rome seeing newspapers (presumably not Italian ones, I can’t remember) with photos of the boys celebrating wildly.

    Stunning video, thanks very much for posting it. I remember it well, was sitting on the lawn of Norwich cathedral listening to TMS with headphones on, and shouted YES!!! when Donald failed to run. Much to the consternation of three old ladies taking tea nearby !

    Memories of the 98 dual between Donald and Atherton made me inclined to support Australia in that match, (now that’s something I thought I’d nver say !)

    Any chance of that Atherton/Donald episosde as a vid clip ?
