  • "Fitness is a relative term. I mean to say that it does not necessarily mean that one who runs hard and lifts weights is fit. Cricketing fitness is different. So if you can perform, it means you are fit."

Four nil, four nil, four nil, four nil

Another one-dayer, another win for Sri Lanka, another clueless performance from England. Even the return of two discards, Vikram Solanki and Kabir Ali, couldn’t delay the depressingly inevitable. What a chuffing shambles.

Sri Lanka look very, very good.

Rub it it, why don’t you, Will?. We lost. We are crap. Have always been crap at ODIs with or without Vaughen. It’s the same old, same old.

Note to folks abroad: we English are used to this - honest ;)

I don’t remember you being crap a year ago. But I guess the team were feeling a bit more chipper then….

Ask any English fan or, indeed, cricketer whether they would prefer to win the Ashes or the World Cup and you’ll get the answer as to why England has never been much more than an averagely good One Day side.

ODI cricket in the UK has rarely been taken seriously since its inception; compare with the fervour an ODI is met with in the subcontinent.

Twenty-20 has only served to muddy the waters by becoming a better commercial alternative to test cricket than the 50-over game; it’s rather left 50 over cricket with nowhere to go which is why the ICC experimented with powerplays and supersubs.

All in my opinion of course….
