Well, I’m there, hoping the powers that be put some commentary over the Internet. Boss is away, so the mice can play!
And congrats to Thorpie on his MBE - well deserved that.

Another one-dayer, let’s hope England can give Sri Lanka a run for their money. Doubt anyone will even bother coming here, but if you do, chat away! I’ll be at the ground, but will post thoughts on the game on Wednesday (alt. just read Cricinfo…)

Question:
Why must they schedule these matches to coincide with England’s World Cup fixutres? Surely English fans must have something to say about that.
Watch the footie with the radio on, perhaps?
Harmy looks to be in better form, thank goodness but we are having a serious wide problem here.
Question for cricinfo, Will? Why do you keep writing Jayawardena’s name with an e? Have a look at his shirt.
Wraye,
I think it is because when you translate words from Sinhalese, there often is not an absolutely correct translation as they have a totally different alphabet, therefore there are several spellings that can be considered to be correct.
Having said that, I don’t know why players cannot decide how it should be spelt in our alphabet and stick to it.
I have seen Muralitharan with “Muralidaran” on the back of his shirt. Strange.
In fact, looking at a Murali website, http://www.muralifans.com/ it is spelt with a “d”, but the pictures at the top clearly show his shirt having a “th”.
Having said this, Murali is a Tamil and they have a different alphabet again.
Personally, I think the Sri Lankans are just messing us around.
It would be impossible and ridiculous to keep changing the spelling every time a Sri lankan player fancied a different spelling of his name, so Cricinfo and everyone else will stick to the spelling they have always used, which in the case of Jayawardene ends in an “e”.
Having only seen the scorecards, I blame Mahmood entirely for going at like 11 an over. Well, I’m sure England’s all round incompetence helped as well.
Thanks Clarky, but that bugged me a lot. Good show by Harmy, good knock by the ex-Skunk and as for the rest, oh well.
Still, we always knew that England are rubbish at ODIs, so no surprise there, whoever captains. Back to the good old, bad old days of losing - none of this Ashes-winning malarkey.
Will, had a real problem today trying to access your site from work or home PCs. Any reason?
Extremely depressing. I only watched the first two hours, that taking it to midnight here, and it was pretty clear by then how it was going to go. Their batsmen didn’t look remotely threatened by the English bowling. Extras aside, sometimes it’s hard to tell in these cases whether the batsmen are just seeing everything beautifully or the bowlers are poor. It looked like both at once this time.
